What next/Tramadol addiction

Hello,
I am at day 7 of quitting tramadol that I have taken for over 4 years.  I took 300 mg per day.  Yes, I took more than prescribed at times.  I have several degenerated discs in my neck and lower back.  My doctor assured me that this was a non addictive medication.  I know the truth now....

My question is..........day 7.  I'm over the most severe symptoms.  Not sleeping without taking soma and melatonin.  I have tried.  My neck and back pain are back with a vengence.  Depression is pretty deep.  I have taken 1 50mg hydrocodone  for a couple of days.  It eases, but doesn't conquer symptoms.  I have no other abuse of drugs or alcohol in my past.  I've never even smoked pot.  I am a mom, business owner and care taker for my parents.  I need to be able to function.  Should I continue to tough it out?  Talk to my doctor...who still is not receptive to the idea that this stuff is addictive, go to an addiction dr?  I don't want to trade this for something else.

What should I do?

Thanks for the encouragement.  I guess we want it and WE WANT IT NOW!!!  That is what got me into this mess in the first place.  Do you think taking the hydrocodone  1 50 mg....will set me back.  I have done it for last 2 days.  Sorry to be such a taker right now...and I will do what I can to help others when I get up and out of the pit.  I'm just afraid to take anything...........I don't want to go back.

Lynn,
Discuss other pain options that are not narcotic with your doctor .Many of us are chronic pain suffers we have found alternatives for pain management. The next few weeks your pain is going to seem a lot worse your body wants its fix .For me now I can handle my pain with aleve and zanazflex about 95% of the time .Since I have stopped tram my pain level has gone down.Give your body some time .Things will get better hang in there.
