Withdrawal and Pregnancy

Hello. I am new here and had a couple questions as I don't know what to do. I recently found out that I am pregnant. I have been addicted to Oxy Contin for about 5 years, give or take and in this past year was taking about 240mgs a day, maybe less. Anyway, I stopped about 2 weeks ago and started Suboxone. And I wanted to start the sub at low doses, so I started at 8mgs and dropped immediately to 4mgs a day and am now on 2mgs sometime everyother day, but I want to stop altogether. My boyfriend does not know of my past addiction and I don't want him to know. I don't want to take any opiates at all now that I am pregnant. It was unexpected but nonetheless I don't want to harm this baby at all. So I don't want to be on the sub either. Can I get down to as little as I can and stop? By using the items in the thomos recipe?? And maby having my dr.give me something for the rls and taking all precautions, can I get off all meds and go through w.d or no? Any advice will help tremendously. Thank you.

Karan

I was also told that coming off the opiates would hurt my baby or cause me to lose him by a lot of people online. But after talking with my doctor they assured me that coming off would be the best thing for me and the baby. Especially since you are only 4 weeks you should allow your doctor to make that decision with you. It might be different if you were a few months already, but you are only 4 weeks. There is a lot that the doctors can do to help you and ensure that your baby is safe too. Please.... talk to your partner and then take him with you to see the doctor. But don't try to change your meds by yourself until you see the doctor. If you call and tell them your situation they might see you now instead of waiting till you are 6-8 weeks like most doctors do. Just a suggestion!

hmmm...yeah..I can't imagine how it is safer to keep taking the opiates? I mean, I guess I can see that when the baby is older and you are father along..but now?? THe fact that they would rather keep me on suboxone is weird to me. I don't want to be on it. I know I put myself in this situation, but I never thought I could or would get pregnant. And now that I am I dont want any of those things getting into my babies system. I would much rather taper to a low, low dose then stop. I cannot do that?? there is no way to do that??

im not a dr but my wife stayed on.because we where told it is the safest way. i geuss it depends on your doc. we taked 2 many because we where so scared. she stayed on and even uped 5mg near the end because of the baby being streesed. we hated it but it worked and the baby had no w/ds. now she's coming down.

Thanks rick. Well, the baby is only 4 weeks old. I am only one month pregnant and i do NOT want to continue to use sub. I would much rahter come off. So you are saying there is no  way to get off the sub?? That there is no way to taper then stop? So I have to stay on opiates while pregnant?? I understand goin through w.d and all, but there has to be a way to stop???

you can put yor baby at great risk coming off.you need to be honest with your dr.some drs will take you down very slowly. some will hold your dose. often times a dr will take you up on your dose. because there is a very high risk of stillborn if your baby go's into w/ds. not trying to scare you but i know alot about this.we me and my wife has been there.it doe's not matter if you are at 1mg or 80mgs the baby may or may not have w/ds
