Withdrawals and Endorphins...

Hi.  I have a funny question about withdrawing from opiates...

I am on day 4 of a moderate withdrawal from hydrocodone.  Today I am noticing a strange (and good!) sensations of what feels like endorphins kicking in. This is not my first time detoxing (unfortunately) and I don't ever recall having this sensation before like this.  After 3 days of crawling my way through acute withdrawals, today and I am noticing these strange "rushes" of what feels like endorphins kicking in throughout the day.  When it happens I can sit, move, think, whatever, just a little more comfortably.  It's happened three times today.   Has anyone ever felt these sensations, or am I just that weird?  It seems to happen when I am sitting still watching TV or at my computer.  I can't figure out what magical thing I am actually doing to make it happen. This shouldn't be happening on day 4....  should it?  So soon?

Good luck to you too!!  Keep up the good work and positive thoughts.

I am 10 + days (lost count) off the pills and I feel 100% now.  I think my problem was physical dependency more than anything else. I know this is a substance abuse forum, but it seems  the most appropriate place to post for withdrawal issues. I felt stuck for months trying to taper off once I didn't need the pills anymore.  My doctor set a very slow schedule for me, but it was the feeling of withdrawals that kept me from making any progress.  I don't think I could have made the jump w/o Clonidine, either.   I've been exercising daily since day 3 or 4 now, and plan to start my diet after my vacation next week.  I don't take anything but Advil for pain issues now.

Hi there I just posted my story on another feed but I know exactly what you're feeling. I had it after tapering down to almost nothing. I got down to a 1/4 of a vic and then the next morning I woke up and felt this warm and tingly feeling. I swear it pushed me through the whole day with nothing. I had sooooo much energy. Day 2 it was gone and I tried to recreate it with the same vitamins, coffee and juice mix but nothing. I ended making it until 1pm and taking another 1/4. That was my last. Today is truly my first day looking forward with no thought (or easy availability) of pills in sight. It's not bothering me that much and my doc gave me Xanax to sleep. I'm hearing that's highly addictive too. I was learning that we are supposed to distance ourselves from that warm fuzzy feeling that mimics an opiate high and create a disconnect to it. However, with that said our bodies do create that feeling on their own naturally and I can't wait for it to naturally to return. Exercise! Stay strong!!

Interesting.  I've never heard that expression before.

I feel better today...almost 100% normal minus some seasonal allergies I'm dealing with at the moment--this is a normal thing for me.

I started having those feelings on day 5 so I don't think it's weird. It really encourages you to keep it up.
