Withdrawl from Hydrocodone

I have been on Norco (10mg Hydrocodone/325mg Tylenol) for going on 8 years. I have taken 8-12 daily for about the past 2 years (all doctor prescribed). I know that I can't quit cold turkey because occasionally I run out before it is time for a refill and I get what I call the "WAH-WAHS" (If you cup your hands over your ears and cover & release repeatedly it sort of replicates the feeling I get in my head) and practically go into siezures.
I am a single father of 2 and I have Chronic Deep Vein Thrombosis and have pretty bad pain in my leg from 6 bloodclots over the last 15 years. I obviously didn't start taking this high of a dose in the beginning, but my tolerance has just gone up & up & up. My doctor is about ready to stop the prescriptions and I know the tolerance and addiction are just going to continue to get worse. So I'm just trying to figure out a tapering plan to get me off of these things. I have 145 tabs left and need some tips on doing this. I've never been on any forum before this and was really surprised to find this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well it sounds like you have enough to do a slow taper. like over a month.

but you need to address the problems in your legs or you will be right back at square one. obviously the doctors are not curing this. have you considered a homepathic route? starting with your nutrition. maybe you could ease the pain by taking certain herbs or minerals to try and heal the problem.

There is a common herb called "feverfew", that you can get in any drugstore, wal-mart, or healthfood store etc.  It has been used in olk medicine for centuries for helping with withdrawl.  There are also other withdrawl tools including iboga /(ibogaine)  BUT....it is Illegal in the U.S. and should not be used without the consult of a physician or specialist.....or "kratom" which is a Southeast Asian tree leaf which can help but i could write a list of 100  strict instructions which is why I say stick to "feverfew" keep posting..all the best.

Hello and welcome to the forum.. I also take Norco I would start by just taking the least amount a day, that would be 8 and remove 1 every 4 days when you are down too 3 a day 1 every 8 hrs. start removing 1/2 and that one I would make in the afternoon as you are busy and would help too take your mind off things.. The next 1/2 I would cut out at night then the next in the morning and repeat the pattern then off... You will still have wd symptoms but your Dr. can give you Clonidine and maybe a few Valium to take the edge off.. This is a plan I myself have followed, others will come on and also advice, what ever way you choose to get clean I wish you well on your journey.. lesa
