Xanax Withdrawals

I was addicted to Xanax and Opiates, I was taking them for about ten yrs I tried many times to get off them myself but of course it didnt work.  I ended up in rehab for 3 months and I have been clean for ten months now, my only problem is I am still having a horrible burning tightness in my chest and I feel my heart pounding all the time 24/7.  My Drs have checked everything and they all seem to think its because of the xanax I had been on for so long. Anyone out there have any insight on this because it is really scary and its really affecting my life...I never again want to go through this hell...those pills should never be prescribed. Please if anyone has ever gone through this I would love to hear from you ...God Bless..

I was in detox for two weeks and in partial hospitalization for ten weeks and for me I went through hell,  heartrate up to 135 and it stayed high for about 3 weeks, I also had vomiting, shaky, hallucinations, I couldnt eat or sleep for a long time I went from 145 lbs to 110 lbs, I felt outside my body ,burning and tightness in chest...my addiction Dr said the chest symptoms could last for awhile but I think ten months is a bit extreme...I am so happy for you that you got help and depending on how long you were on the meds depends on how long your withdrawal will be but hang in there there is a light at the end of the tunnel...if you feel the need to get checked out by all means go to the Dr they can do a ekg and some blood work...it never hurts to be safe....I have had at least 8 ekgs in the last ten months....Please stay busy, go to meetings, talk to others about addiction it does help trust me and you will get through this....we all have to go through some bad stuff so we will never want to use again.........I was in rehab with fifty others and the ones on opiates and xanax felt much better after about 3 wks I just havent been so lucky but it does get better....God Bless...YOU CAN BEAT THIS!!  : )

i just got out of rehab yesterday. short stint of 7 days. they gave me suboxone and Vistaril to get me off of a 5 per day 10 mg Lorcet plus and 2 Xanex a day habit. I started after severe back pain from scarring due to a Laminectamy. i started at one or two Lorcet tabs, 7.5mg then progressed to the 5 per day plus xanax.
it's my 8th day and my heart rate is over 100 and I can't eat or sleep.
I thought of going to my GP, but they told me to go to the ER. i don't think i am having a heart attack, but I sure feel BAD. just wondering how long I will feel like this?

I will let ya know for sure after I see the Doc.  I hope and pray this is all due to withdrawals I realize I didnt get addicted overnight, they say it takes 1 mth to every year you were on them to feel better so hey my time is up I should be feeling better.....it really makes you never want to take pills again I dont even want to take a advil they brainwash you good in rehab. but its a good type of brainwash.  Thanks for the response.....I just hope this horrible feeling in my chest leaves me soon it is so scary and uncomfortable.

I know when I first start my WD's my heart races and my pulse will go up high in fact about a year ago I was in the hospital due to the heart racing and was so stupid about WD's didn't have a clue about it and didn't tell the doc, but now I know that is what caused it.

Let us know what you find out when you go on the 28th and good luck.
