Yep, been on benzos 8 years, along with a dozen other drugs, you're definitely not the only one feeling crazy, and when I say crazy I mean bonkers, bad. Although it's hard to rid the bad feelings and thoughts, you should atleast try to understand it's coming off the drug( that drug is doing that to you). I feel crazy and feel like when I use that I feel better. I do, I go out and get active and work, but I shouldn't need a pill to feel good. It can be a long and scary road but it's better to get to the finish of the road than just sitting at the starting line. Good luck

hello and welcome. congrats on your clean time.
please ditch the subs. you are almost through the acute physical
symptoms .
get up move around. stay hydrated, eat bland foods, take some vitamins.
after eight years of pills you will NOT feel better in 4
days.
the suggestions robin gave you will help.
time will be your healer.
please be patient with the process.
get rid of all the pills, subs included. you are just delaying your healing.
subs are opiates.

Hi and welcome!

Yup, we have all been there.   How long have you been (how many days) without any drugs?   The physical part of the withdrawals is just the first hurdle. Now you have to let time, patience, and after-care kick in.   Your brain needs time to heal and it will...but it doesn't happen overnight.

What is your plan for staying off the opiates?  Many of us here have chosen to work a 12 step program (free), or Smart Recovery, or one-on-one therapy, but you have to do something, because once the acute phase of physical withdrawals are over, the mental part takes first place, and we are at high risk of relapse.   After care is CRITICAL.

Also, here are some tips:

1. Keep busy!  Down time is dangerous time.  Distract yourself, do home projects, whatever keeps your mind occupied.

2. Exercise.  Any sort of moving around will help your brain rewire itself.   Walking in the sunshine is great.

3.  Get involved:  Any sort of group/activity/charity that puts you in touch with other people will be a big boon.

4.  Stay hydrated!  Drink a ton of water...not soda, or coffee, but water.   One ounce for each pound you way...every day.

5.  Eat healthy. Stay away from sugar, processed foods, fast food, junk.  Aim for lean protein, veggies, fruit, whole grains.

6.  Stick around here...helping others is a great way to stay sober.

Good luck!
