I have been taking this for about four years and need off. Has anyone heard of the Waismann Method? I really need to get and trying by myself to cut down and off by tappering.  VERY HARD!

How much are you taking a day?  Tapering will help ease the wd's.  Do you have anyone that can hold your pills for you?  As for the Waismann Method, really do your homework on this.  There are some problems associated with this.  Keep posting        sara

I looked into the Waismann Method, as soon as i found out how much, i stopped.  Their facility is in CA, i live in Ohio, air fare and their cost, would be about 24,000.00. I was on hydro for 10 years, to cut down is very hard, just depends on your personality. I have an addictive personality, wasn't the way for me to go. There are some good Drugs out there to combat withdrawls, but theres danger in those to. It depends on how bad u want it.  Talk to ur Doc.  For me,   cold turkey  was the best way. The reward is freedom, and it feels great. Still have some problems with cravings, but have surrounded myself with good people. I was doing 20-30 tabs a day. Good luck, and God bless

Are you asking about the Waismann Method specifically or Rapid Detox?  The Waismann Method includes some degree of aftercare.  Rapid Detox is a medical procedure that minimizes the "unpleasantness"  of physical withdrawal.  Had a friend do the rapid detox method.  He was discharged in only 8 days.  Six months later, dead from a heroin overdose in a homeless shelter.  Some of us make it only because of what it takes to quit.  Take that out of the equation and I think you have a higher change to relapse if you don't have some king of aftercare.  IMHO.

I looked into UROD myself. REALLY research this; there are a gigantic number of horror stories associated with it; I recently read a journal entry (medical, not blog) hypothesizing a "related suicide rate" that rated somewhere up in the half a percent range. I mentioned the Weisman Method to my Suboxone doc, and, with a sneer of near epic-proportions, he informed me that he's of the opinion that the method shouldn't be legal at all.

Too many people get pulled in by the "magic wand" quitting approach, only to find that the resultant pain and systemic stress is so high that your odds of relapse or worse are actually significantly higher than if you simply cold turkey (something I wouldn't advise to ANYONE... unless they were considering UROD).

Maybe the suicide rate stems from when folks realize they're in worse shape than had they just CT'd it, PLUS they're out $20k, but from what I've read, I would be very, VERY sure you know what you're getting into. It's fundamentally a medically-induced coma, a system flush of opiates, and then an induced precipitated withdrawal. Then, if you can survive the pain and neurological strain for a mere 3 weeks or so, you're clean. Bear in mind, if you just cold turkey, the lion's share of the worst WD symptoms are gone after 2 weeks or so anyway.

Most of the stories I read involved folks hunting down their dealer the second they were released from the hospital, or from distraught mothers/wives/girlfriends lamenting how their loved one either tried to or successfully killed themselves.

My vote is a resounding NO, but the only advice I'll give is research the HELL out of it first. NONE of us want to go through the withdrawals; if there was an easy cheat to getting clean, you'd hear a lot more about it, and see a lot less support boards like this one. I'm in day two of some truly hideous withdrawals, I CAN afford the UROD treatment, and I'm still sitting here suffering. I'm no fool, so think it through. Good luck!
