addiction

I have been taking vicodin and then they switched it to norco. Its been over 7yrs. I'm taking over 15 a day and they are ruining my life. But I have several back problems that have lead to 6 surgeries. They say I need another surgery, but I'm trying to get off of these. Any suggestions?

I was on Norco as well. 2 years. I only took 6 per day (as prescribed) and have gone CT. It is not easy - so you should ask your doctor for support.

I was lucky - I had some Xanax and I used the Thomas recipe - basically sleep for the day 2 & 3 - then supplements on day 4 & beyond!! The anxiety was crippleing - so I called in sick to work for 2 days. My husband is aware & has been my rock!!

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. I am only on day # 7 - so I am no expert.

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with so much pain. I agree that you need to discuss your feelings with your doctor. Is 15 per day what you are prescribed? That seems like a lot but I don't know what kind of pain you're in on a daily basis. Please don't try to do this on your own. Talk to your doctor and begin researching alternate ways to manage your pain...you can find a doctor that will help you in that area as well (if your current doctor isn't responsive to you getting off the meds). Good luck and please keep us posted.

I wish I had a magic answer but the only ways I KNOW are to just quit cold turkey or taper. So sorry your in so much pain! Their are tons of alternative pain therapy options... I will send you what I have found through a PM!

Welcome...Tell your doc that you want to stop the meds. Depending on the type of surgery, he/she may be able to regulate the necessary pain meds, start a taper program when appropriate, then assist with stopping completely.
Talk to your doc.
