addiction

Hello everyone.  I am having a problem.  I had a work injury a few months ago and I am taking Vicodin.  I have 3 herniated discs in my back and I am soon having back surgery.  The medicine really helps the pain, but I am worried about becoming addicted.  I have had addictions in my past and I am now a year sober.  Is this going to ba a real problem?  I am afraid.  If I am addicted, how can I stop?  I keep hoping I can wean myself off.

sounds like you are in a lot of pain.....talk to your doctor about it...you need or will need something after surgery so i would tell my doctor about my fears and see what he/she sudgests..be honest with him or her...there might be alternatives but talk to the doc!.....the doc can help you get off of stuff when it is time....good luck...don't be scared
