almost 3 days no vicodin

I've been taking vics for 6 years. 3-8 a day. At  first my mom  would give them to me for pain . Then I started lying saying I was in pain but I just nedded them for energy . Then I started taking them  from her without her knowing. I have a son he's two months old  and I want to quit for him. My ob gyn  knew of my problem and didn't want me going cold turkey pregnant so he precribed some for me to taper. It didn't work I  just took them. So  I'm on my 3rd day and its hard  I've quit hard drugs easier than this. My current docter has me on seretonine  for there postpartum. Does anyone know how long this lasts? Trying to stay positive and busy but its hard.

You're right..it is hard, especially with a newborn. I really feel for you and it's going to be really tough. All I can say is stay strong for yourself and your little one. Consider asking your doctor for medicinal help during detox...it makes a world of difference...which is what you need right now. Take care of yourself and that sweet baby and be the mom you should be....without drugs.

Go to the bottom right corner of this page.   A box titled 'most viewed' has the Thomas Recipe link in it.   The immodium really helps ease many of your physical w/d symptoms since it binds in your intestines like an opiate but does not cross the blood brain barrier.   Ibuprofen/Excederin for body aches/pains, but also hot baths with Epsom Salt helps with creepy crawlies and restless legs.   Eat bananas, oranges, orange juice.    The potassium helps the restless legs too.   Force yourself to eat light foods, soup, crackers, toast, yogurt, applesauce and such.   Also protein drinks such as Ensure, Carnation Breakfast Drinks help muscles rebuild.   Exercise is really important, even if it is going for a walk around the block.  You have to get those endorphins going.    For sleep try Nyquil and Melatonin.   A good multi-vitamin/mineral along with B12 helps give you energy too.   I've detoxed without these things and I can tell you they do make a significant difference.   The emotional stuff you are dealing with is your brain healing and reconnecting it's own neurons.   That's why you feel lethargic and emotional for around 30 days.    You ARE doing this.   Give yourself a pat on the back and go out and get the ingredients.  :)

Congrats on wanting to take your life back.   Opiates take much longer to recover from than other drugs.   The low or no energy thing takes on average 30 days to start to return.   The physical withdraw usually lasts about a week, but the mental withdraw and recovery takes much longer.   That all depends on how long you used.   Have you checked out the Thomas Recipe for OTC meds and dietary needs such as Immodium & Vitamins to help ease your symptoms?    Is your Dr still prescribing or are you getting them elsewhere?  The biggest and most important thing to do is to make sure you cut off your sources.  If there are no more pills to be had, it makes it easier to get through this.  If we know we can get more, then the cravings can get the better of you.   Keep reading and posting..we can help you through this.   You are doing great.  3 days with a 2 month old...that's got to be challenging.   In a couple more days the worst of it will be behind you.
