Just a quick post.  Even though I'm an ardent Vicodin addict, I have found that Midrin actually works the best when I get one of those life-consuming headaches ... and w/no buzz!

I once asked the pharmacist what Midrin does, and he said it basically has "sedative" effects, similar to a barbituate or muscle relaxer, but darned if it ever made me drowsy.  I have a bottle of about 20 now I've been nursing for over a year, so for a junkie like me not to abuse it, it must be fairly safe.

Someone very close to me gets severe headaches. She has had a headache now for about 3 weeks straight.  I know that she is taking xanex and ambien.  She tells me that she takes xanex because of stomach problems, and she takes the ambien to go to sleep.  She has been on ambien for about 3 years that I know about, and xanex for about the same.  Her moods are awful.  For the last year now I don't even know who she is.  Always complains about something and never ever feels good.  Please help me.

angst, I hope that attempt on your life was a long time ago and that you are alot better now.  I haven't read the whole forum yet so I don't know.  50 is a lot to o.d. on.  I also used to take massive amounts of phenobarbital and drink.  Either way, combined with the booze, it really is a **** shoot.  Again, I hope your you're not a loose cannon anymore and that you are better!

there is enough barbituate in fioricet, fiorinal, esgic, to kill you if you take 50 or more at a time.  i od'd on them intentionally, to die on barbituates, like marilyn monroe.  i've been called a loose cannon lately by a lurker.  i did not die, because someone found me.  it was my daughter.  the person who called me a loose cannon knows nothing about my life.  i just want you to know they can be lethal.

Hi I'm new to this forum.  First I wanted to comment on Fioricet. It was prescribed for my headaches on and off for about ten years.  Here is my personal opinion on it:  Its ****.  I definitely abused it, especially with alcohol.  THank God I'm alive to tell about it.  There are better medications for serious headaches, such as imitrex.  The barbiturate in Fioricet is pointless as far as a headache goes.  The caffeine may help a little, but drink a cup of coffee for Gods sake - and take a couple of Aleves.  That works for me now.  But I know what it's like to abuse meds.  I am on this forum right now becuase after 9 months of sobriety from alcohol, I have been fantasizing about the using hyrocodone etc.  (used to get it in my cough medicine and LOVVVVVVEED IT). I have limited use of painkillers but know that the high was my favorite.  Thanks for this forum.  Becuase reading about the pain and agony of withdrawal and obsession really helps me to realize this **** is just as bad as booze and to me, would lead to death, just as booze would have. God bless to all who really want to stay off of the mind altering ****.  It's really hard but it is worth it!

hey, when i was taking fiorcet, without codiene,  I would take 2 or 3 at a time and something extra to get some sleep.  It contains acetaminophen, caffiene, and butibital (a barbituate).  The caffiene stabilizes those blood vessels, the acetaminophen is for pain, and butibital is for sleep.  They made me sleepy, no high.  The usual dosage is 2 pills q 4-6 hrs.  If taken too many, like 50 or 60, there is enough barbituate in it to put you to sleep forever.  Please do not do that.  If that higher power letting you seek help now, would not be doing so , if he thought you were going to use it in a different way.   Good luck.  I hope I answered some questions.

your a joke, this is a forum to get help, not to use as a pill book, or a book on "what pills will get you high" I just don't know. Everyone here didn't have an issue on becoming a junky, more on how to get the hell away from the pills. Yet your having a hard time getting started, maybe its time to try something new with your life.

Well, gosh, little fella, just a guess here, but I'll bet the Doc who prescribed them would know how many a day. I mean, they *are* prescribed for you, aren't they?  You wouldn't *still* becoming here to find out what will get a buzz, would you?  Nah.

2 a day. One every 12 hours. Or as prescribed by your doctor.

The only wd symptom I've ever heard of associated with Ambien wd is rebound insomnia as it targets only the receptors associated with sleep. Rxlist.com says wd symptoms are similar to other sedative hypnotics but I've taken it for extended periods of time and the only problem I had was being able to sleep again without it.  Whereas I've had pretty severe wd from stopping Xanax and can tell the difference.  It's really best not to rely on it for sleep every night as it will only make the problem worse.  At least, that was my experience.
