I guess you have to ask yourself if you want to be(pill)opioid free, or just make yourself feel better, for the short term.
because suboxone is just a replacement opioid, listed as a narcotic.
I would read the posts on this site about suboxone withdrawal. I have seen many people report that the sub withdrawal was worse than the drug of choice
I was on hydro and oxy for many years. I used valium for the first few days and clonidine or another sleeping aide cant remember now for about 5 days. It did take the edge off quite a bit. But withdrawal isn't painless for sure.
I promise though if you cowboy up and go through it without another opiate you will be free alot sooner than you ever imagined!!!
I would first try all other means of detox, whether it be by tapering or going CT, before you go the suboxone/subutex route (buprenorphine). I do think that suboxone can help alot of people, but its still an opiate that you will become dependent upon to not feel the w/d's. Over my many years of addiction, mainly to oxycontin/methadone, when it came time for me to quit suboxone it was harder than detoxes I experienced with short acting opiates like norco, percocet, diluadid, etc. My only advice is if you do go with sub that you try to start at the lowest dose possible, I see way too many people taking more than is needed. Just be careful and do your research before you make this decision, and I would exhaust all other avenues before you settle on suboxone/subutex. Whatever you do there are alot of people here that can help you through the process, so keep posting. I wish you all the best, take care.
You could try another detox, maybe a better one or a better attempt. You could be making the problem worse with long term or high dose sub or bupe.
Depends how much oxy and hydro you are taking. I was on a LARGE amount of hydrocodone and the suboxone has really helped me. Aftercare is important as well.
