can someone help me plz

i have been taking the ultram for over a year. i wanna get off of them but can't seem to make it thru the withdrawls. i'm 26 and my mother has had a severe addiction problem for ten years now and i'm terrified that i'm gonna get into the same situation she has gotten into. i was getting them from her and now have become severely addicted to them. i had cancer in my leg which i've had three surgeries on and i have a lot of pain from all the trauma. i would rather be in pain than be addicted to this. can someone tell me how long withdrawl symptons can last? does anyone have any advice for me?

I am quitting them also.  13 Sep I was at 13 per day.  Today was my first day of 6 per day.  avisg is RIGHT!!  Taper, 1 pill per week.  That's how I got to where I am now.  It has worked Very well for me in the last couple months.  The real hard part is jumping off, but you have to get to like 1 pill per day first!  That's the best way.  I'll go to a 1/2 pill per day before I hop off!

You will need to taper off of them .I would reduce one pill every week it gives your body time to adjust between drops .you can do this just take it slow. How many are you taking a day?
