changing drugs

Should a pain specialist put you on fentanyl patches to get you off methadone?  The methadone was after two back surgeries.  Should he just have you tamper off methadone?

Every patient is different on how they respond to medications. There is not set rule.

HI in most states you do need a special license to write methadone but a lot of doctors just dont mess with it because it is so contravsal
it will be ez to get off the fentnal and most doctors will then move you to hydro from ther making the withdrawal ezer ........methadone is the hardest of the narcotics to come off off due to the long withdrawal period what your doctor is doing will help eaz the pain keep posting for support and let us know how this turns out for you good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

Thanks so much.  I was panicking because I was afraid he was making things worse for me. It would be nice if they would tell you something about what they were doing.

I know everyone is different, but do you have any idea how long it will take to get the methadone out of my system? I have been on 20 to 25mg per day for 5 months.

You say it's easier to get off the fentenyl patches, but everyone else I've seen posting said it's the same as methadone.  Are you talking from experience?
