cocaine

My friend snorted cocaine today at 35 weeks pregnant. How long will it take to get out of her and the babys system? Will it show up in the babys blood when she has him in april?

It will show up yes,and they do tests on all babies...where I live. Is your friend an addict? Maybe tell her to check out this site.

Hey Rebecca, glad you found us. Take a great big deep breath, and let it out. I remember how long and tedious that 40 weeks can be, eating well, no social drinking, hell I never even took a tylenol, and we wont even talk about cigarettes.  It's tough being a temple of purity while nurturing a new life. Your baby is fully developed now, the next 5 weeks are strictly for growth and weight gain. I'm not condoning the drug use, just trying to reassure you so you will calm down and be a good temple. The baby feels our emotions. Of all the drugs out there, I'm kinda glad it was coke because it  metabolizes quickly and should be out of boths bodies within 4 days. However, it puts the fetal heart at a great risk for cardiac issues. It can be very dangerous and cause premature labor.  3 lines shouldn't be too bad as long as YOUR FRIEND NEVER DOES THIS AGAIN! The last month will go very quickly. Use it wisely by by remaining calm, eating well and gathering strength for the upcoming miracle of birth. Best wishes.

Has your" friend" done other drugs during her pregnancy?  3 lines seem to be rather alot for someone's 1st time.

That's very good to hear. Tell her to continue not doing drugs. Drugs kill and never make it better, no matter what.

If your "friend" is snorting coke while pregnant id be a little more worried about the baby's health then if she'll get caught & no it will not show up if they test her or baby at the hospital , it might if she does it again but I think k it takes a week to clear her system but eventually if the baby isn't already affected by her use there could be a list of issues with the child .

If your friend never did drugs what caused her to do it now while pregnant?  I hope she will be honest with her OB as surprises at birth never turn out very well.

The meconium screen test that is done on every newborn can detect drug use by the mother as far back as the 4th month of pregnancy. What was your "friend" thinking???

I do not want to ne judgmental as I have certainly made my share of mistakes but I can honestly say that probably the only time over the past ten years, prior to getting clean recently, was when I was doing fertility treatments and during my pregnancy. What on earth, so close to full term, made your friend want to use a dangerous narcotic. Not only could she have had a terrible.reaction if she was truly new to this, but cocaine could cause serious respiratory harm to the baby,  among other things.  I would encourage your friend to seek help as to why she exercised that behavior...She has a new baby to care for very soon and needs to be in a good place mentally before the arrival.
