coming off tramadol

What foods boost serotonin, since tramadol w/d depletes serotonin?

It is best to do a taper from tramadol. So you are doing great with that.
How much xanax were you on? Did you taper the xanax that is extremely important.
You will experience increased anxiety as you come off of xanax.
Tramadol also have an anti depressant component so there is also anxiety
Detoxing off that.
Praying for your healing,
Keep the faith,
Debbie

Hey Gizmo-
You may want to ask your doc about Tryptophan.  It can be prescribed in large doses as a sleep aid.  It is a natural seratonin booster and mood stabilizer and is ALL NATURAL.  I'm in Canada and get it prescribed.  It has replaced my addictive sleep meds that I'd been on for nearly 20 years and I sleep better and longer than I ever have.
Congrats on your taper.

Thanks for asking about me. I am now down to 3/4 tablet tramadol per day. I am taking 1/4 tablet 3 times a day. When I cut again, which dose do I cut out? I appreciate your input. Thanks again!

I am now taking 1 3/4 tabs per day down from 3 per day. Eating well. No vitamins because of xanax w/d. Supplements rev up symptoms in some benzo folks. Did you take tramadol? Thanks for checking in on me.

Hi gizmo where are you at in your taper?
Are you staying nourished?  Eating a balanced diet.
Taking vitamins?
Get some sun, add some exercise to your day.
Keep moving forward.
You are doing great.

Thank you for praying for me. Yes, I did have anxiety coming off xanax. I was already on the tramadol which may have helped some with that anxiety--don't know. Thanks again!

I take 300mg neurontin at bedtime--puts me to sleep in daytime. I have been off 1mg xanax for 29 months. Tapered, but not correctly. Jumped at .25mg. Didn't know what I was doing--no doctor to help me.

Agree with debbie completely, and you've gotten great support here too from others who KNOW what you're going through, that's always so comforting!

Have you asked your doc to maybe consider a short course of a medication like Neurontin to help with the nerve like pain?  I think it's a reasonable option, and it may really help.  How long have you been completely off the Xanax?

Best to you!  You're doing great....keep on truckin'!

It is a burning sensation in the skin. Benzo w/d can cause it. Many people who have been on benzos experience this.

Tramadol made me very anxious and jittery - i actually enjoyed the feeling. But when withdrawal hit, the anxiety was absolutely horrendous. Twisting stomach - so so uncomfortable, I can completely relate to that. Ive been on Diazapam, Zopiclone and Lorazapam, but i stopped them all before any withdrawal kicked in - I didnt like the strange taste they all gave me. What do you mean by burning? I dont think its something Ive ever experienced.

I am still having the awful burning. I still have some pain from Xanax w/d. I also have been having some anxietywhich was notthere before tapering tramadol. Have you ever been on a benzo? Withdrawal is horrific. Much better now, but the burning is intolerable at times.

Wow, so you're fighting withdrawal with drugs which are also addictive, which will cause more withdrawal. Sounds like an awful cycle. How are you feeling?

Nerve pain is why I am on it. Mayo Clinic gave it to me. They diagnosed it as pudendal neuropathy. I now think it is withdrawal from Xanax that was given to me for sleep during chemo for breast cancer. It helped for a little while, but doesn't anymore. Benzo withdrawal can cause burning nerve pain.

I suppose its different for everyone. When I went to drug services, they tried to ween me down slowly, but personally I felt that cold turkey was best. I took about a week out my life and just concentrated on getting off it. Booked a weeks off work and made it my main priority to get clean. But Ive been through Tramadol withdrawal 9 times now - I cant seem to stay away from the stuff. Can I ask why it is you're on it?

I have tapered to 100mg down from 150 mg per day. I am tapering by 1/4 pill every 10-12 days. Am I just dragging out withdrawal? I thought this would minimize withdrawal symptoms. thanks!

Hi Gizmo986! I was on 100mg every 4 hours to begin with - I was completely out of it. Took me around 4 days to feel better, but I didnt wean off, I just went cold turkey and it was the worst feeling I've ever had. But its the only way I would recommend to anyone (unless of course it would be dangerous) - if I was still addicted now, I would do the same again. Even though I felt like death, it cut the whole process short. How are you doing? Are you feeling any better? What dosage are you on now? Sam-Harley xx

So i just went on google.
Withdrawals from tramadol usually last about 7-14 days with the first 5 days being the worst.
