Bkitty gaining a few extra pounds aint nothing to worry about look what you have achieved, your drug free. Its good you brought it up though,i think by doing this you have recognised you have a issue that needs attention?you got clean, this issue wont be a problem for you! lulu i think your right about everyone having some sort of addiction,we are creatures of habit after all.gnarly i too have had many cross addictions weed, alcohol, speed to mention a few,its only recently i have got topside of it all, apart from the honey and lemon!!lol!! i to have a keyworker(sponsor) that i see maybe once a month.i have been going to buddhist place which seems to fill that empty void that is left by drug addiction.i wish you all a merry christmas.chris

MY how the addicted brain works......many of us myself included have played the cross addicted game and yes it can be anything from food to sex but as addicts we need to change the very way we think and reason or our addiction will just suck the life out of us with a substitute.....you first got to realize the pills or what ever your substituting is not the problem it just a symptom of a much bigger issue...AFTERCARE AFTERCARE AFTERCARE is the key to throwing a rope around this thing and getting a hold on it if not your just white knuckling your sobrity and your new vise will most likely lead back to your D O C ....I have been fortunate to have a great substance abuse counselor Paul we have been working together for 3yrs and he always calls me out on my s h i t and takes time to point out when and where im thinking like an addict this is a learning process and it takes work I worked with N/A when I gave up thew booze weed and everything else recreational they have a great program thats free I went to a substance abuse counselor because my phyic dr told me I had to because I was on methadone I dident see any problem ther and it took paul the better part of a yr to convince me I needed help you have 2 choice here.....A you can do nothing and hop from one addiction to the next or ....B you can plug into aftercare and learn how to change the way you think and reason .....B will put you in recovery and thats a great place for us addicts its the best we can ever hope to achieve so everybody take a long hard look at your life is there any excesses anything taking over if there is get help wile you can because trust me this conditon will lead back to your DOC sooner or later god luck and God bless.........Gnarly

I'm glad you brought that out in the open. Now, knock it off right now!  Don't wait until you get back to work and hope it decreases your appetite. No no no!  Start right now...

Think of something that's not full of carbs: How about oranges? Berries? That's what I started to grab because I was doing the same thing and it almost caused me to relapse!!  Throwing up can get addicting, you know that...

Don't make me come down there and kick your butt!!!   xo

makeing yourself throw up your food is only gonna make things worse .your body is trying to heal itself .it needs the vitamins that its been lacking because of your addiction .becomeing bulimic is just another addiction you need to put a stop on it and quick .eat like you said once you start back working you will stop thinking about it as much and start to loose the pounds.

It seems that my new addiction is food,,,as I gained 10lbs in the past 40days since stopping the pills. This frightens me because Im a petite person and always have had to monitor my weight. I am gonna admit something here and Im embarrassed to say this but I have been making myself throw up after I eat so I wont gain anymore weight. Im eating us outta house and home and Im hoping that returning to work will curve my appetite as I wont be so bored. I need to check myself thats all I need is to become bulimic.

hi,yes i absolutely struggle with cross addictions.with all the above ive learned that all addicts have this problems atleast all the ones that i know of .as addicts we tend to try and replace our addictions with other things .i have been addicted to alcohol and pills since i was about 16.everytime i quit i eat like crazy ,smoke like crazy, try and take supplements, etc, etc, etc, i guess its just all part of trying to replace something on my part .

Hi Chris-it's my personal opinion that every human being is addicted to something.  Whether it be good for us or not is another thing-as far as addictions go-hot honey and lemon is a good one(:  I personally am addicted to green apples.  I sometimes eat like 5 a day.  Not too worried about this.  Obviously there is the other side-the alcohol, sex, food, too much exercise can be dangerous.  If it's not hurting you or impacting your life or health in a negative way-I wouldn't worry about it.  Hot lemon and honey is good for you-I drink it all the time....Lu
