Hi ya Wilkie,

Well done, again my friend, Just please please be very careful about those Benzos. I've noticed that your Benzo intake has increased over the weeks that we have been chatting. I know you don't think that they are problem but they soon will be if your not extremely careful. I have told you that these Benzos lie hidden under your original addiction and in many cases when addicts who use that particular group of drugs actually think that they are clean from their original addiction eg: opiates, they are driven back out there and use, thinking that they are craving the opiate when in fact it's the W/D from the Benzo that they are feeling.

So please, please be so very ,very careful that these little Benzo Buggers, don't creep up on you, ok?

If you think kicking herion is hard then please remember that trying to kick a Benzo habit is even harder and very, very much longer.....................and very difficult and dangerous to C/T them. In fact the only way to come of them succesfully and safely is a very sloooooooowwwwwww taper. Believe me I know.

You take Care and all Benzo users beware,

Eddy

I take trazadone for sleep.  It is an antidepressant but a poor one at that.  It is fairly short acting, and causes fatigue and drowsiness, so whaa--llaaa  new treatment.  My problem with falling asleep is getting my brain to shut off long enought to get tired.  I will lay for hours on end trying to fall asleep on my own.  To no avail.  It may be something to consider for you if your insomnia continues.  I have taken it for 10+years now and if I travel and accidently forget it, I don't even bother going to bed.  Hang in there with the detox, you're almost through it.

Be safe with any benzo....but in reality it would probaly take 10 or more temazapams to equal 1-1mg xanax....be cautious and just use them for a week or so...then many try something like melatonin or valerian root if u continue to have problems..or talk tour doc about an alternative sleep med that is not habit forming

Good for you....I am new to forum, so I don't know what you are detoxing from...what drug?  I have suffered from insomnia for most of my life...long before I started any form of drug or alcohol use/abuse.  Nothing seemed to help me sleep, so I can relate to the sleep deprivation issue...it is no picnic.  I must confess that I've been taking Xanax for sleep only for the past 17 years.  For some reason, I've never been interested in abusing this drug...even though I have several friends who are addicted to Xanax in an abusive manner.  I only take it for sleep and have always taken the same dosage (1 or 1.5 mg a night).  My doctor has tried several alternatives, but nothing else works.  I'm severely allergic to Ambien.  Finally, my doctor decided that it is fine for me to continue Xanax since I've never abused it and it seems to work.  I'm terrified to tell anyone that I still take it since it is technically a controlled substance.  I guess what I'm saying is that I don't blame you for taking 7 pills to sleep....when we are sleep deprived, we become desperate.  But it sounds like you might want to consider other sleep aid alternatives.  Without my med, I simply do not sleep.  Anyway, be careful and it sounds like you are well aware of your potential for abusing a new drug.  There are non-narcotic sleep meds if it continues to be an issue for you.  I have several friends who take seroquel and it works for them (didn't for me though).  Good luck and congrats on making Day Six!!
