Tomorrow is Test Day

Well tomorrow I have a big hard day ahead of me. My refill is ready to pick up tomorrow for 40 Lortabs.  I do need them for my back pain and migraines but I do not want to get them again in fear that I will have to go through withdrawals again.  I really don't think I can live through the first few days of withdrawals again.  I am on day 7 now and I am just now getting back to feeling normal.  I need advise and maybe a little bit of persuasion on what to do.  A part of me thinks I can go get them now and keep it under control, but the other part of me says who am I kidding.  Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

please think long and hard...is it really worth becoming hooked again? you know it is going to create that same viscous circle you have been dealing with and so badly wanting to get away from. you have been 7 days clean!  be proud and strong of your amazing ability to come this far! don't throw it away PLEASE! i am only 4 days off my addiction that i have been struggling with for 12 years now. i have 2 daughters so i can relate to being a mom who is addicted. sometimes whatever my girls did seemed to aggravate me and my solution to that would be to pop 35 pills at once...i feel so guilty and i want to be clean.....if you started down this hard road to kick your addiction, and you have come this far...you did want to be so badly in the beginning...please try to recall your feelings of why and how badly you wanted to be clean...chances are 1 pill will start the addiction full force again....i am not sure why but my body withdrawal has not been all that bad....i am thinking it has something to do with the script the Dr. gave me...maybe you could possibly ask your Dr. for a prescription of Naproxen (i am taking this for withdrawal)..it is a muscle relaxers...i also have killer migraines, also GERD so i take nexium along with it, 1 Naproxen every 6 hours. it has really made a difference. i don't know what withdrawls the next days will be, but at this moment i am o.k.
please think long and hard before picking that script up! where i live, i can buy the T1's  I am addicted to over the counter...and believe me, i am having a hell of a time not doing it!!  I do have constant cravings, but i am sure that is to be expected for months to come!
sorry for going on and on...but i am in a very similar boat so maybe we can talk each other out of picking up our pills when we feel we need them are our clean days don't matter anymore......please take care...i need your support here too, so stay clean, if not just for another day? although i hope it is forever for you!          Lisa

I agree with everyone.  Call up the pharmacy right now while you can and say you are an addict and cant have those pills.  I only say that becasue I have tried to cancel refills before and the pharmacy always says they will disable it but they cant delete it from their system and then I still know they are there.  Last time I told them honestly., Look I am addicted and I cant have those pills.  ANd the pharmacist dropped the pill bottle he was so freaked out but he smiled and grabbed my hand and told me he would make sure I never got them.  It felt so good to tell him.  if you think you can say that, you should do.  SO then no matter what they arent avaiable to you .  Congradulations on geting to Day 7

Thank you for all your comments.  Honestly I don't think I am strong enough to call the pharmacy myself and no one else knows I am going through this.  I've got to find a way to get it done without me having to do the dirty work.  I wish I were stronger than this.  I am very mad at myself for being so weak.

You are doing awesome!!!!!!!! Please don`t try to rashanalize picking up those pills. The same happened to me and i agree w/ the above. It will go back to a never ending circle and days of counting pills.
That is great to be on day 7 Please keep going............

if you are anything like me (and I believe a few others on this forum), if you get them - you will take them.

I agree with everyone else. You are much better not having to make the daily decision to stay away.

It's reminds me of why an alchoholic shouldn't own a liquor store.

OMG, are you kidding?

You have 7 days behind you? That is fantastic.
Don't throw it away.

We CANNOT moderate these drugs. Period.
That's a lie we all tell ourselves at times.

Alcoholics must deal with the availability of booze, so we need to be able to say NO to the pills.......
whether they are available or not.

40 Lortab is just enough to mess you up again.
Don't go there.

I agree you should call the pharmacy and don't give yourself time to think of what you are doing. Call them tell them you are not in need of them. Then hang up before any thoughts persuade you to give in. Mike

Call them up and cancel it. You are just getting over the w/d and aren't even done with them yet. You will see the pain levels subside as you get farther into your recovery.
