Anyone have an idea when natural endorphins start to kick in for longer than 2 hours at a time, been clean 14 days.

Day 24 everyone,  seeing some improvement,  I catch myself feeling happy.  Have done OK with anxiety and depression but have had a few weak moments when my blood pressure spikes and I get all red and freak out.  But this is the price we have to pay.  Wishing you all luck

You have a good attitude and that is so important.
Just reading this thread is encouraging.  It just proves how we are all in the same battle.
I hope you laugh a lot today.
Keep smiling.

Thank you all for your feedback,  with the stuff I have read online on other sites I honestly believe that all of you and I are the strong ones,  so many people still cheat by taking other medicines and here we are doing it cold turkey and by ourselves.  As much as it *****,  at the end of the day,  the strength and feeling of accomplishment that comes doing it this way is more of a high than pills ever were.  I have to believe it gets better,  just hope soon.  Good luck to all of us,  and I can't wait to feel like I used to without the meds,  happy about the little things,  the important  things

I ponder this question a lot & look forward to the natural endorphins coming back. I used only 3 years and like most here have my good and bad waves.  Although I hit the gym 5 days a week I find that after it is when I miss my doc the most...I go from a natural high before the gym to the lowest of lows when I get back. It slowly comes back but it $ucks.

I remember the natural endorphins...a good steak, beers with friends on Fri night, or making vacation plans.  When I can do these again & feel good doing it I'll know their back.

I am still working on the energy level thing, motivation, and feeling good in my own recovery. I personally push myself, sometimes too much. I crawl to bed some nights, but every day I am just a little more capable. I am not very depressed or stressed when I am dog tired-just don't give a damn at that point.
stress free moments and warm feelings of peace come without warning now. What many say here on this forum about the brain chemistry healing and resetting over time is true. Just takes time.
I sometimes wish I was 100%, but I think I am still paying the Devil his due-to borrow Kyle's thought in the matter. However I really don't want another dance with the devil and his pills and booze.
I want this to be my last mortgage on my soul. It is nice to know it only will keep getting better if I keep my guard up and cherish each tiny bit of progress.
mheady I abused alcohol and drugs for most of my life, and I am 60. I am counting on a happy clean joyful retirement, and so should you!

I'm on day 21 today and its weird,  sometimes but only for a brief moment I will feel happy but it never lasts,  do you have an ounce of energy,  nor motivation to do anything,  pushing myself feels horrible.  God I hope the worst is almost over and I can live happy again soon. Thanks again all

Oh sorry about that. I read today 5HTP taken with another drug does make endorphins. IM going to find out about it. Also I have about 10 family members who are doctors on my partners side, so will get some info from them. Apparently 5HTP taken alone will not do the trick, it will only build up the endorphines in your blood and isn't strong enough to flow to your brain.  And by doing this, it is not good for your body at all. But taking 5HTP with another med only on script ( can't think of the name ) together apparently make endorphins to your brain.

Thank you all for your positive responses, and unfortunately my dumb *** used for a very, very, long time, so in a sense I guess this is my payback. It has gotten a little better everyday. I wish you all live, happiness, and success in your new sober lives. Kuddos to you all

It's kind of an open ended question.  When you were clean you went through ups and downs, so it's not reasonable to expect anything specific when you clean back up.  Everyone normally has to work for their feel good vibes, whether it be through exercise/sports, music, good relationships, or just whatever pursuit gets you off so to speak.  Remember too you'll likely be suffering depression so factor that into your thoughts.  Being down will lower endorphins.  To give you an answer to your question though, about two to three weeks and the granny steps get bigger.

Hi well done on 14 days. As for the endorphines, I read somewhere a few months ago that exact same question and the answer was " THIS IS THE WHOLLY GRAIL ANSWER WE ARE ALL SEEKING " I want to know too. I think my endorphins are too fried to ever make their own Serotonin ever again. I would give anything just for one hour of energy. I hope you can get back to normal very very soon, and wish you the best.

Here's an article I ran across about how we can boost endorphins after being on opiates for a time.  Depending on how long you were on them, it takes longer than 2 weeks for them to regenerate.  Hope this helps some:

Hi there.  I wish there were an answer to that.  It all depends on what you were taking, how long you were taking and to be honest on what you are doing now.  There are TONS are articles out there on this subject.  I have read and now understand that you have to help get them back... exercise, diet, attitude etc.  That is not always easy to do.  If you do nothing they will eventually come back but not in weeks... could be months, years.  You are early into this at 14 days, but keep it up.  It is sometimes rough after the physical process.  Have you looked up NA or other support programs?  I wish there were something easy like a pill... there isn't.  there isn't and thank GOD there isn't... Keep going forward......
