Hi Worried - I could not agree with you more. Thanks for the information. Sub helps many people, but it also get most stuck in another tailspin - that's what it did to me. Glad I am off it and clean.
stats say...4 mgs of sub is usually enuf for most to do ok...dr's rx way more than that..when a 32 mg subbber tapers..most dont feel much wd til they get below 4/most2 mgs...sub is a drug the US adopted as an addiction drug...it was rx-ed for pain under the name Temgesuce at a starting dose of 0.2 mgs...1 mg of sub would be 5 x that dose....the US rx-s this drug at tons of the recommended dose for pain...and no wonder people r stuck on it..it is a very strong narcotic...but people feel they r doing sumpin legal..so they r ok...people tend to hold subbers as a bit better than methadoners//and this is becoming slowly/but surely/ a phallacy..it is a narcotic/partial agonist but so much stronger than anything most pill poppers have ever even dreamed of...sounds good on the sale/getting off the crud is a real big time bumber!
tapering slowly is the key..talking with ur dr about a slow taper is crucial//slow/i mean to a crumb...1 mg of sub is so much stronger than what most pill popppers even know..i was a 100 mg hydro user...2 mgs of sub sent me flying..loved the ****//and is why i didnt use it to stop narcs..it is a narcotic/in reality/how can one stop narcs by using a stronger one/just cos its legal? to me/any subber who snubs a doner/being methadone/ is fooling themselves..mg for mg..sub blows methadone into the toilet! people do not realize the srength of sub...til they try and get off of it...it is a mega drug...sticky drug....wds suck...and as advertised it is the drug to do to quit with no pain! Threre is no such thing as pain free wd//dont get sucked in and spend ur well earned money on it as it costs a ton..it is a well advertised extremely strong and addictive narcotic...turning to it makes u no better than a doner....both r better than being on the streets///and both have their place in recovery..just educate urself on anything u take..always
A heavy heroin user/ie dilaudid/whatever///an iv drug user may need to look at sub or
I was on Suboxone for nearly 4 years and I had severe daytime sleepyness. I thought that I was having trouble with something like sleep apnea because I would literally fall asleep while talking with my employees - they are the ones that pointed it out to me. I went for a sleep study and was diagnosed with RLS and put on Mirapex - that helped, but I knew that it was the suboxone. I agree with Ga Guy, the dose that you are on is pretty high for being on suboxone for such a long time. I was on 2-4mg and still experienced the side effects. Avisg is also correct - you will want to talk with your doctor about a taper plan if you want to quit taking the suboxone, do not stop taking it abruptly at your dose or you will go through extremely harsh withdrawal that will last for weeks. In the end, I could not taper on my own and ended up going through a medically assisted detox for 8 days - it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck.
Bol,
Yes you may want to taper your dose but dont do it without your doctor there is NO ONE here with the experience and that knows you medical history if you are ready, would you like to taper off it ?
Suboxone IS used as a maintence drug. It was developed for long or short term use. I will say that 16mg, for 8 years, sounds like a high dose. Higher doses are used in the beginning to disuade the use of their DOC and to keep the levels of Suboxone high during the first few days or so. Usually, the dose is lowered in the next few weeks (if the user has been compliant). Anything over the ceiling effect dose (2-4mg) is actually a waste if you've been taking it as directed. In fact, the side effects you list are typical of a dose that's too high. You could probably reduce your dose down to 4mg or so very painlessly (only under your doctor's care of course). Ask you doctor about a dosage adjustment. Have you done any aftercare at all? Do you see yourself taking the Sub longer term? Do you think you have the tools to come off of it sometime in the future?
Hi & Welcome,
I assume you are not in the US, it was approved here in the states in 2003.
In any case, do you want to get off? Sorry, I didn't get the question.
