I'm having all kinds of issues with memory loss right now...I'm hoping it's all gonna be o.k. in the end...but I find it horribly frustrating.  I had always enjoyed a ridiculously detailed memory, and am finding it hard to remember even the simplest things right now.....but since I'm still having trouble with sleep and anxiety from w/d ing, hopefully that's at least in part, the cause.

Thanks for all the great info.  I wasn't able to wean off the patches, i just did it cold turkey.  I had also been taking about 4 10mg percocets a day, and I stopped that too.  Man the spasms are really intense the first few days.  Im just now starting to get away from that.

I have been on fentanyl since my alittle before i turned 17, and im about to be 19 now, so about 2 years.  I started with the percocet and things just led to another drug that the same supplier had.  I was instantly hooked.  It put me in icu twice, destroyed my relationship with my friends, and got me kicked out of school.
I have finally decided to just STOP. so i did. I also just got accepted into a residential treatment phacility that starts this week.  If today is day 4 of no fentanyl when will I start feeling better?  I really want to be at least stable when i enter rehab.
Has anyone ever been to a treatment center for prescription med abuse?

Hi Baby...I also withdrew from Fentynl but I had to work so I could not stop cold turkey.  I used my other prescription (percs) to taper.  I stopped the patches and then tapered for about 2 weeks and then stopped.  Jacqui was at a much higher dose...I was only at 50 mg and only was on them for a few months...well, I stopped because I was overdosing, literally, on the patches.  They are a very serious narcotic and Irecommend to stay away from them at all costs.

Good Luck to You....this forum is great; you should find lots of support even when your at your worst.

GTMI's right, I have been through this....it's pretty rough to come off, but it is possible.. You can private message me anytime to talk more about it.  I was on 200 mcg of fentanyl for four years....I weaned off going down about 25 mcg each month...I experienced w/d s/s to a some degree during this process, so it was kinda rough for a couple months...then, in January, when I was on 25 mcg, I went into full-blown w/d.  I quit the dose at two weeks into it since it was so bad.  I had intended to go to the 12.5's in February, but just never made it.  I cannot tell you how bad I felt....not trying to scare you, but it was bad, and I want you to be prepared for it, and to know that despite those feelings, you will not die, and you can get through it...I did.  With the support of the people here, I was able to somehow get through...I clung to this forum like you can't imagine...I felt bad for a long time, and I had to force myself into doing things to get me out of the house once it was possible.  There's alot I did that got me though it, and I'd be happy to share it all with you.  If you're shy and don't want to talk directly, you can read my journal.  Getting over this takes time, alot of it....I still am going through stuff from this medicine...I was not addicted to it, but had such a wicked physical dependence that my body is still struggling to some degree.  Things come back to you though...they really do.. Sometimes it's in spurts, sometimes it's just a roller coaster, but I can tell you whole-heartedly that I wished to he!! I'd gotten off of the stuff much sooner...I me again, totally and completely, now I'm just getting my body healthy again.  It's over four months for me off of it btw.

Fentanyl is right up there as one of the nastiest to get off of. I sent a message to Jacqui805. She went through this and may have some insight. There are others here to help too.
some information that will help us help you is.
What dosage you were at?
How long have you been on it?

I tried those patches and they just didn't do anything for my pain. Didn't realize they were addicting. Have you asked the pharmacy. They really can be quite helpful.

I was on the 75 long enough to become addicted.  When I went for my stem cell trans they just cut me to 25 no questions asked. I went through hell and wanted to die. Finally I convinced a doctor to up me to 50 which helped greatly although I was still dealing with many other issues .... now 2 years later I'm down to 14 and apart from no memory am doing great. May just stay here at 14. For my depression my doctor has me on two other drugs. They have worked phenomenally for me.  Bupropion and cipralex.  Harry
