i agree her baby will most likely be taken.  especially if she didn't inform anyone of her drug use.  when a baby is born addicted they defiently will know and will probably screen you to see what the baby was on or check the baby's system.  but until you get hlep you won't have that child in your custody.  i know eveyrone makes mistakes, and yoyu dont' realize who you hurt. addictuion is a powerful thing and i just pray for nayone who is addicted, including myself!!

I just want to add..that most states have laws..if she continues..they can take her baby at the hospital until she gets help etc...definately do not abort!! i did cocaine a few timewhen i was pregnant as a teen (didn't know i was) and stopped that right away..but i had all the fears that she would be deformed etc..I am glad i had her and she is a healthy ,beautiful 22 yr old..

I found out I was pregnant on Wednesday and have been smoking crack I didn't know I was pregnant. I have since stopped as I have no idea of how far gone I am. I'm not even thinking about the damage I have done but hope and pry the baby will not go through any withdrawal when he she is born. I have not felt any movement and only found through a CT scan and they seem to think I'm about 6/7 months pregnant. I hope your friend and her baby is okay.

Wow! I hope you baby is OK as well. I used crack every day and I just found out I'm pregnant at 24 weeks. Even now my stomach doesn't suggest Im pregnant but I am. I was really worried and scared for my baby when I found out I was pregnant because of my drug use. But my doctor said amazingly the baby is perfectly fine. Although I used crack I drank a lot of moringa tea and cooked with the leaves. I also never took prescription for my baby because I didn't know I was pregnant. However, my doctor said that my baby seems completely healthy and it's because my baby got all its nutrients from the moringa. I pray my baby continues to be healthy. I'm seeking help and haven't used since finding out. I hope this helps however for our sake and our children's it's best to put pride aside and seek the help we need. God bless.

I have a friend I know that ever since I met her she has been smoking crack. & I met her when she was 4 months pregnant. & now she is 8 months and having problems with preterm labor she says it was a kidney or bladder infection and went to the.doctor but I feel like if she did they would of told her the exact problem. Which I assume it's her excessive crack use, she said she was going to quit everything month before but she hasn't quit the biggest problem (crack). Idk how to feel I terribly feel bad for this unborn baby in my heart & the baby she already has. I went thru the same thing with 2 of my pregnancy but I used pills and thank god there wasn't anything wrong with my babies. I warned her about what happened with me. I don't know

You are 100% right, it is not guaranteed that there will be a problem with the baby's development, but in my practice I have seen several women come into L&D that  have  abrupted immediately after snorting coke!  It is "common" for this to happen so while there is a chance that baby will be perfectly fine, there is also a good chance that it will not be a good outcome if the drug use continues.  This person absolutely must get help if she is still ingesting coke in any way, shape or form. No way to sugarcoat this one.  I certainly don't think abortion is the way to go either, but she has to be aware of what 'could' happen to her baby if her current behavior continues.  I would never judge the mother as far as her intentions for her child, addiction gets you in it's grip and does not give an inch so mom needs all the info and help she can get. Being an addict, I can really relate to the bad choices we make when we are in the throes of addcition, especially the ones that hurt those we love the most!

I don't wanna step on any toes here, but I have done some credible research and spoke with the March of Dimes and another organization about this.  Cocaine use during pregnancy, while never a good thing, can produce varied results.  In some pregnancies, the babies don't have a thing wrong with them, others are effected in many different ways.  I just don't want everyone to think here that if you've used, it's an automatic guarantee that a baby will have problems.  It's just not so.  Further, the information I've attained and the people I've spoken with, suggest that long-term use over the course of the pregnancy presents the most risks.  Again, I DO KNOW what adverse effects, all of 'em in fact, can occur in this situation, but it's not a given.  It'd be wrong to assume any of them are going to occur.  Getting proper OB/GYN care is the most important thing here, as well as being open and honest about any drug use that has occurred.  I have seen inumerable people abort babies after hearing there were horrible problems, only to find out afterward there were none.  Also, regarding the w/d during pregnancy issue, it seems that w/d during the first trimester is generally avoided.  Hope this helps.  This info. is NOT meant to be taken as someone's sole source of healthcare, but only comes from the desire to give information, and hope that's fact-based....to dispell some fears.

Please tell hyer not to abort. I had an abortion and I regret it dearly   I aborted at 13weeks adn 4 days adn saw the ultrasound pics afterwords.  My baby was a full baby. Head legs arms everything. I think 24 weeks is way to late adn I can't beleive they allow it up to that point.  She needs to stop!!  And shame on the person saying she shoudln't have a baby.  Have you ever been addicted!!!  Addiction takes oaver you and who you are.  It make syoua  completely different person.  I got addicted to methadone and was stealin it from my husband and I was pregnant. I gto hooked onit after my c section with my second child.  When you get addicted the drugs are all thats in your mind.  I am a business owner, successfully, a stay at hoem mom  never ever got in trouble.  I am a homebody adn spend every minute wth my family.  But this addiction caused me to do things I would never do. I would never lie to my husband let alone stel from him.  But I did.  So please do not pass judgement unto others.  I suggest fo ryou friedn to go to the methaadone clinic.  It is safe.  they put heroine mothers on it.  She will get in right awaY!!! because she is pregnant.  because when you are addicted to soemthing you shoudl never ever quit ct or taper when you are pregnnat.  Inf act most mothrs go up in methadone because your blood flow increases in volume when pregnant.  It is very unsae to mess aroudn with dosages differenlty when you are pregnant.  Your baby needs to be on a consistent dose.  Also she could ahve her baby taken away for awhile if the hospital find sout she was doing crack adn he baby was born addicted.  If she goes to the clinic her baby wont be.  Cps will get involved.  I hope this helps!!!  I only speak from what I went through.  My daughter is 5 months old, I still go tot he clinic.  I am now on 20mg adn have only two months to go.  She was healthy.  You can't undone the damage that  is done but she can start on th right path.  continuing to do crack with only worsen.  And dont' think well the damage is done, what more can i cause so i will use.  that snot a way tho think.  I would see if there is a clinic in her area, she is she will go for this.  adn she will get on asap!!

She is now talking with someone and has not done anything for a couple of weeks - she told her dr and he said it was not cause defect in the way the baby will look.  The things it can harm are the baby deveopment and how well they learn.  She was thinking about aborted the child, which in my book is too late - she is 22weeks and in FL it is up to 24weeks.  she is just concerned she really hurt her baby :(  doesn't mean she doesn't love her child it is the addicition that consumes her - i do did drugs at any cost at times - wrote back checks ect - she couldn't help it not to say it is right but she does love this child

This is not being judgemental but YES it will hurt the baby. She is at  risk for preterm labor, placental abruption, addiction of the fetus and more. She must stop and she must tell her OB about this....when she delivers the appropriate disciplines must be present.  NICU/neonatogist.  I have been an OB nurse for 12 years and everyone must be aware of her history for the baby to have the best chance.  It is only fair to the baby because if it is suspected, they will bag the baby for urine anyway.  Please tell her to seek help now for this addiction, it is so important for all involved!

I of course would be concerned with anyone smoking crack durning pregnancy I am sure it would raise the chances of having some negative effects on the baby . I am sure she does not want to hurt her baby .Can she get into any type of rehab program ? She really needs to tell her OBGYN. They will help her  and do everything they can to help the baby .

yes it will hurt he baby! im sorry i dont want to be mean but  she shouldnt be having a baby if she is smoking crack the baby may be really messed up if she stops now there may be a chance it will be ok but u need to tell her to stop now before its too late
