guilty about taking meds

I have been having some strange chest pains/coughing up blood, dizziness, I was prescribed zanax for anxiety .5mg 3 times a day . They also prescribed hydrocodone 7.5 twice a day along with other non narcotic type stuff. I skip the meds in the day due to having a dangerous job. I do have a history of addiction /not pills .Is it ok for me to take these meds ,I feel it would make me a hypocrite to go to aa meetings

Thats solid advice/I've been up all night with severe chest pains,I'm on my way to the walk in clinic or the ER /maybe I can get them to switch the meds. They are aware of my history /I really think thats why they arent giving me a diagnosis. They would rather keep me doped up than find out whats really going on.

You are not a hypocryte to go to meetings that it what they are there for ADDICTION I don't know why the doc gave you the meds did you tell him you are an addict??  Efexir is a non addictive anxiety med that I know a lot of AA's that take it.  Also there is Naproxen for pain which is non addictive.  You know you are doing the wrong thing so make a choice to stop..come clean you deserve to be sober and have a clear concious.

Camping out in a tree house !!!  My gosh, I hope it is warm where you live or that you have some form of heat !!  It is  abt 29 degrees here and I'm pretty sure I  would be frozen by morning !!!
What an awesome thing to do with the kids tho !!  You know they will have some really good memories when they are grown and also you are showing them how to raise their children someday !!

I really appreciate the feedback I feel like the years of addiction has done this to me,but at least with addiction I knew what the problem was.I feel like this could be my heart because I now have a very low heart rate  and retaining alot of fluid but all the test show normal. It does feel good to be sober and physical sickness can't take that away. The last 5 months,I've spent some awesome quality time with my family,My boys & I have built a superbad treehouse and we're camping in it to bring in the new year although this laptop wasn't part of the plan  lol

It is amazing that after all these tests by all these doctors, that not ONE of them can tell you what is going on with you !!!!!!!!!!!! ?  Man!  I think there is something wrong with these doctors !   Please don't stop until you find an answer, people do not cough up blood for no reason,  the ER people are idiots,  it is their job to treat people ,  not to make crappy remarks.  Wow!

I hope you find answers soon.
Best wishes

well I cerntanly dont agree it what the er said yes it is there responsabilby to find out what you problem is unless they know that they cant treat you nor do they know if it life threating .Not to mention they have no way to figure out what type of doctor you need to go too.I think I would find a new ER

I've been to the cardiologist(30,000) then he sent me to the pulmonologist(5,000) he sent me to the GI (3,000) All test were normal, although I am waiting on recent test from an internal medicine Dr..Its only small amounts of blood usually in the morning but gets worse with exercise or exertion. Could anxiety cause this?

ok well i'm glad to hear that you went you paniced me for a sec.. but i'm with avisg on this one you should figure out wats wrong with you either from your cts or go to ur regular doc if the ER is being a bunch of a$$es... for real they gave me a slip that said right on it that not only did they diagnose me but gave me a referal to a breathing specialist. For real the hopital ur going to is a joke! but onto the other topic i really think that you should look into some recovery care. If you are guilty about taking pills you obviously know that either you are abusing them or are considering doing so. If you think AA is not for you, which it isn't for some b/c of the whole god element, maybe you can look into a therapist. i kno that sounds a little extreme but it may help. please consider it. and remember not only is AA completely confidencial but there is no rule that says you have to go back if you dont like it!

go to the doctor asap when you say you are coughing up blood are we talking a few spots on a tissue or tissue sooked with alot of blood.I am not sure you feel bad about going to aa you are an addict you need a recovery progarm. Instead of feeling guilty that wont help you get better .Find out about the bleeding then start looking into recovery care.

I,ve been to the ER several times sometimes daily and am now waiting on the results of some detailed cts, the first time it happened It really scared me but now I'm used to it sometimes its bright red and sometimes it looks like dirt.I've been told at the er ,its not their job to diagnose me but to make sure I'm not going to die in the next 5 minutes.

IF YOU ARE COUGHING UP BLOOD GO DIRECTLY TO THE DOCTOR, DO NOT PASS GO DO NOT COLLECT 200 DOLLARS!!! This can be a sign of something seriously serious! i called my doctor and told her i was coughin up blood a months weeks ago she told me to hang up and dial 911. obviously i didn't b/c it costs a million bucks for an ambulance ride when i didn't need one. but i went to the ER and they did chest x-rays blood work and all kinds of stuff if you are having chest pains and coughing up blood RUN do not walk to the hospital!!!!!!!
