My girlfriend overdosed on methadone and Xanax about 3 weeks ago we fell asleep and I woke next to her she was blue and small amount of vomit and soiled herself rushed her to the hospital and wasn't able to get much info as to her condition as her parents had me removed however she did recognize me when she saw me and I know she had some memory loss I have not been in contact with her in approximately 3 weeks I am very concerned  as to her condition and what therapy she will have to under go they say she was in that state for approximately 2 hours her liver and kidneys heeled within 24 hours are there any common after effects she was able to walk 20 when she left the hospital and she seemed to have some vocal issues can anyone give me some insight as to what she is going through and what to expect I want to go get her as we were to be married in April but im afraid she may have memory problems she is currently 827 miles from me

Hi your lucky she lived the combo of methadone and benzos has been the demise of many a addct you never said if this was recreational or does she go to a clinic to get methadone it may take a wile for her to get better there is no telling how this will effect her brain she was not breathing for 2 hrs that is a long time just know she is alive and the will to live is a strong one just be pacent take your time if you guys are using recreationaly let this be a lesson learned fill in the blanks a bit for us and we will try to help

we weren't addicts wasn't needed to get through the day but recreational  I agree though but I think its going to be more successful if we do it together be strong for  each other and proceed with life this is a frustrating one for me I know she wouldn't have this she's an adult and should be given every option also if there is memory loss what she did day to day for the last year and a half would help her recovery i'm afraid she is lost and confused

I wish I knew something about this but I don't! I just wanted to drop in and tell you to hang in there because someone will be along soon with some knowledge about this. Best if luck to you both .
p.s. If she just overdosed and is battling addiction she may not be ready for marriage. Addiction and recovery takes some work and commitment fir sure.
