I'm a bit confused as well...but I'll say from experience, as someone who has had multiple kidney stones over the past 10 years - ibuprofen and toradol really DO work better than narcotics. I've been pumped full of dilaudid...been on a morphine pump....and for kidney stones, I still found more relief from a good strong NSAID and a heat pack.
But that's not to say he shouldn't take them if he feels he needs them, just - from my experience - I would rather have 800mg ibuprofen, a heatpack, and the liberty to curse without my kids hearing until the stone is passed than a whole bottle of any strength narcotic.
Don't ask...so confusing...I don't know why...and I don't know why, if he has them, and he is passing stones...come on...get over yourself!
I am way confused here also and why would you fill your script for someone else?
I'm confused - he doesn't want them - but he refilled his script and had you do the same? I don't understand - ??
He is a martyr! It kind of pisses me off, because he refilled his script, he had me refill mine...I have no access to them cause I have no access to his house...he is mentally very very strong when it comes to kicking these pills..he went cold turkey..went thru the crap, misery...so im not worried aout him....but when u NEED them...I think, "well...why F@ing keep them"? If they aren't for emergency. .then throw the things away...what is the point...??? Cause he is a martyr...he said hospital morphine will be okay, and I said" why bother? Cowboy thru" that was his answer when I said if he needed one, its okay" nope..gonna cowboy thru" whatev's!.thanks for the advice
well that's a tough one...my husband had a kidney stone over the weekend and he said that ibuprofen 800 mgs helped more than the vicodin he took...and of course its not wrong to take them if you really need them, but remember there are other options for pain relief..
He is being ridiculous not taking the pain medication. None of us are martyrs. Just because we are addicts does not mean we have to live with pain. He can have someone hold them for him and give them to him as prescribed, etc. There are other things he can do. I also believe that in some situations the pain meds are not only helpful but help in the healing.
In no way am I suggesting he be in charge of his meds if he has a problem but I think he needs to explore other options if he has real pain.
I hope he passes them soon. I know it is very painful.
