Congratulations newstart730 for day one, way to go. very good post here. Catloverforever, you are in the right place - welcome to the forum. Listen to gizzy - he is right. The deeper you get, the harder it is going to be to quit. The best way to quit vicodin is to taper, but it's best of you can have someone help and support you by holding your pills and giving them to you. If you are only taking 6 per day, it should be relatively easy. Start by reducing to 5 and trying to space the time inbetween doses, so after a few days, you will be down to 4. Keep reducing your dose every few days, try taking only a half pill as you space your doses apart. The withdrawal will be much easier to handle by tapering. When you get down to a half pill, twice per day - one pill - then decide on a quit date and stop. Flush anything that you have left and you will be completely withdrawn after about 3 days or so once you quit. Try reading the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid Protocol, there are lots of helpful tips and suppliments that you can use to help ease the withdrawal. Most important, keep posting, let us know how you are doing - we will support you. Take Care
Hi hun-
I'm a cat lover in SoCal as well, and I've been addicted to norcos (twice as strong as vicodin) for 2 years and taking 6-10 per day. I was prescribed vicodin for two ankle surgeries and took it as prescribed. Once the physical pain stopped, I liked the way they killed emotional pain, boredom, and gave me energy. It doesn't sound crazy that you did better in school. I got a post-grad degree and worked 3 jobs on this stuff. So, why quit?
Well, to start, you are already worrying about what it is doing to your health. This does not go away with time, and you only end up hurting body more. For me, I also started buying them from "the street" ( a "friend " of a "friend") because I got so desperate to get more, and I spent a fortune. Right now, I am on day 1 of detoxing, and I've had better days for sure!! I wish I could go back to where you are. I remember thinking EXACTLY what you are after 6 months of use. The sooner you quit, the less damage you do to your body, and the easier the wd's will be. Hun, don't do what I did and make up reasons not to quit for two years. Everyone on this site is very supportive, and will help you through if you decide to stop.
Welcome to the forum. You may think these pills are helping you in school right now, but this is a very dangerous road you are taking right now. Addiction is progressive and once immunity to these pills and drugs starts you will need more and more and won't get the energy and high like before, they will suck everything out of you. I won't lie, for most of us at the beginning of our use, drugs got us high, made us feel good, but that is short lived and quickly it becomes an absolute nightmare and so so so hard to stop. After 6 months of you using, you have no idea what is in store for you and i don't mean that mean, but I don't want to see you toss your life away.
Your a young girl with so much ahead of you so please fix this before it's too late. Read some posts here and see the damage that happens. We have to really want to quit because it's so tough at first, but you can do this if you truly want it. Don't toss your life away hun, it's not worth it. Stick around here and learn about addiction if ya can, it might save your life. I am not trying to sound dramatic, but I have watched so many people lose all they worked for over this and my addiction almost cost me my life. I wish you the best and congrats on reaching out today, that was the first step:) Good luck!
