how long does withdrawal from vicodin last

well, i tried to quit 3 days ago.  i was on day 3 today and gave in.  i can't stand these withdrawal symptoms.  any suggestions on how to do this without doc/rehab?

. I think most of the folks here are hydro addicts and  so was I once. I know they won't like this but I want to encourage you by saying it sux but is a walk in the park as compared to heroin , IV dilaudid or high dose oxy withdrawal. Withdrawl always sux but it's a different and very scarry animal  when you are hooked IV or even snorting strong dope. Then we are talking projectile vomiting and sweating stark raving mad panic attacks and jumping leg syndrom. I really hope you continue and 3 days is just about the very end of a vicodin addiction and it does suck. all the best

The only way to stop is to not have access to the pills anymore.  If on day three I would have had the option, well I would have said what the heck too.  You have got to get rid of all pills and all sources when you decide to stop.  If you think you are strong enough to quit while holding, then think again my friend.  None of us like the wd's, but you can stand them.  You must get your head right before you start.  You must get it in your head and more importantly, in your heart that those days are behind you.  Once you realize that there is no going back, then and only then will you start looking for ways to stay away from the pills vs. looking for ways to go back to them.  This is a process, not a week, a month or a year process, but a life process that you must totally commit yourself to, if you really want to overcome it.  I hope and pray that you and everyone here will find the motivation and stregth needed to commit to this change.  Guv

3 days is really so close...most have wds a week or less/physical that is...i was at 100 mgs of hydro a day...went back to work day 5..the thomas recipe helps..read thru the health pages..lots of great info there

Thats to bad you stoped another two days and you would have been over the worse .Just try it again .you can do it when was the last time you took a pill.
