how long???

i have been taking vicodin 10/500 for 2 yrs now.i have sclortic degenaration of the spine.i had shots put in my back and they have helped...but im stuck with this habit!i cannot quit..everytime i try i get horrible stomach cramps,diarrea and i cannot sleep at all...not to mention..i must crave them to the point...its all i can think about.everytime i try to quit...i make  it one day and i find some somewhere..
how can i do this by myself...i cannot tell my family..is it even possible?we own our own racing team and i feel like they help me to just...feel better..
they do not do me like they do others...i get energy from them and i feel better mentally..but im severly sick of this habit..PLEASE HELP mE!

Hi Britt,

Maybe you could try a slow taper. It wouldn't be so traumatic to your body that way. Decrease your dosage by 1 pill every 6-7 days. When you get to 2 or 3 pills a day spread your dose out as far as possible. Tapering is difficult but makes the withdrawals more manageable.

Welcome to the forum and to the world of addiction. All the symptoms fit perfectly into the picture. Withdrawals last 5-7 days or more. Then there is another week or so that is not too good but nothing like the first week. It is a question of wanting to get your life back or being controlled by the pills.
You didn't say how many per dose AND per day you are taking?
