hydrocodon withdrawal

I am new to this and have never in my life asked for help with anything... I previously had a method addiction and kicked it cold turkey on my own over 5 years ago... about a year ago I re-injured during pregnancy and chuld birth an old back problem I've had since a accident when I was a child... I was prescribed hydrocodon 10 MG 2 times daily then 3 times now 4 times and it has gotten to the point where I am addicted and no longer taking my medication as prescribed I am closer to 6 to 12 depending on the day I run out buy percs on the street or even steal them from my mother to keep from getting sick and keep that high... I am currently on day one and already feeling a lot of the symptoms of withdrawal... I cannot go to rehab I have 3 kids and no support system my husband works and will help when he can b home... I need help I need to be able to get thru this without it effecting my kids while I'm going thru withdrawal I have already told my 8 and 3 year old I am sick but I also have a yr old who doesn't understand and is very needy... any advice helps I just need to b able to keep up and take care of them as well as detoxing and getting off of the pills... please help

Glad to see you are hanging in there!!! Day 3/4 are the worst.  It is onwards and upwards from here.  Make sure you drink LOTS of water and then after drink MORE.  Dehydration causes detox to be much more miserable than it has to be.
The baths with epsom salts are the best.
Curl up with the kiddies and watch some good movies.  After day 4 try to get outside as much as possible.  Fresh air and exercise makes you feel so much better and makes it easier to rest at night.

You are almost over the hump.  You've got this.
Proud of you....

12 days ago I was sacred to death of the wds. I read how bad it could be. I like you was up to 12 to 15 hydrocodones (norcos) but like they said everyone is different!! I found out that it wasn't nothing like I read. Not that it was easy but not as hard. So I know that if a wimp like me can do it!!!! You can do it jeezs you had three kids.lol Please I know you can do it. Dont freak yourself out!! It just a bad FLU.  Just keep posting and reading the posts as they help to. In a week or two look back and say wow I did it

That was me almost three weeks ago.  I was mortified that happened to me and that I let it.  Norco was an evil drug and I went cold turkey.  I cried for 4 days, had some chills, RLS, and insomnia.  I did the Thomas Method, minus the benzos, and it helped me tremendously.  I would give it a try and take it hour by hour if need be.

you are fortunate that you only take what you take.  hydrocodone is not a horrific detox.  is it uncomfortable?  YES, but way easier than what most people are detoxing off of.
if you anticipate the horrible withdrawals you read on here, then you will be much worse off and i guarantee in 6 days you will realize that your fear was way bigger than the actual detox.
A LOT of it is mental, so you have to keep your wits.
day 2-3 will be the worst as far as restless legs, insomnia, etc.  you can manage your symptoms with over the counter medications, vitamins, immodium, drink boost or ensure, bananas, etc.  b vitamins can help with the energy because the lack of energy should be the worst.
the kids will help keep you busy enough not to dwell on it.
the first few nights will be the worst. hot baths with epsom salt helps A LOT.
it is not going to be that bad physically, but mentally you will crave them and you need to cut your sources.  tell your mom you are addicted and ask her to hide her meds.

Listen honey.  You can do this.  As glass guy said- it's just like a bad flu.  Tell yourself that's what it is and be gentle with yourself.  The anticipation of withdrawal is way worse than the withdrawal itself.  If you surrender to it instead of fighting it, it will go much easier.
Some things that can really help are Clonidine.  A BP med commonly used in opiate detox.  I've done two and found that it cut my symptoms in half.  I jumped off a very high dose of 100 mg of oxy and 40 mg of hydro.  I was very sick for 5 days and pretty housebound for 7.  But my use was very long and I have other health issues.
Drink plenty of fluids and take hot baths with epsom salts.  Think of it this way- if you got really sick with the flu, what would you do?  Are you sure there is no one that can help?  Even a neighbour?  You gotta do this now because it only gets worse.
We can support you through this until you can find outside support, okay?
Your children will suffer much more in the long run with a mother addicted to pills.  You are getting well for them, and more importantly, yourself.
You can do it.

Your choice is to either take the few days it will take to go through the withdrawal or continue using. I know you don't want to continue using so you have to buckle down and get this done. You need to stop reading what other people are or have gone through. Everyone is different and if you prepare yourself it may not be so bad. A few days of being sick is better than a lifetime of being addicted and chained to pills. It isn't going to get any better for you hun and the longer you wait the worse it will be. We will be here to support you and make suggestions that will help ease the process. I hope you decide that now is the time.
