How much Suboxone does the Doc have you on?  IMO, one of the problems with Suboxone is that Docs just prescribe WAY too large of doses and Pharma makes the doses too large.  What we need are 1/2mg, 1/4mg and 1/8mg doses.  What we have are 8mg and 2mg.  This makes the detox problematic.  My advice is to always follow your Doc's advice but you can confer with your doc and possibly agree on a lower dose.  If he has you on 2mg and 1 is enough, talk to the doc.  Take the lowest dose that will do the job.  Let us know how you are doing.

Short term detox using Suboxone is a relatively new approach to deal with some of the problems using Suboxone long term.  It may turn out to be just the thing to help people.  Its still an extremely powerful drug and deserves to be treated with extreme caution.

Its where we are.  Yes, It could be OK, or it could be the first step down a long road.  Lets discuss this some more.  I'll try to give you my take on the benefits and traps of Suboxone.  I used it and I think I'm doing Ok so don't fret too much.

The doctor is putting me on suboxone asw ell as outpatient therapy. I will have to ease off of suboxone and only take it a month or so along with continuation of outpatient assistance. Does that sound okay?

I've read some of your other posts.  People on suboxone say they are fine because they are on an incredibly powerful opiate.  I read comments from people that want off badly after months or years.  Its not an opiate cessation therapy.  Its an opiate replacement therapy.  I've commented so many times recently I'm concerned that people will get sick of reading it.  I think its possible there's a place for Suboxone in your treatment.  I feel it would need to be tied to an intensive out-patient program.  I have experience with this.  PM me and I'll pass on my thoughts.  DO NOT get on Suboxone yet.  We need to talk.  :-))

Cheers

I've posted several discussions about suboxone.  I used it for 2 years and I've been off for about 4 months.  Tell us more about your situation.  Exactly what are you using and how much.

There are justifications for using Suboxone but those are very limited IMO.  Virtually everyone here will tell you to just detox off your DOC, either by CT or a taper.  There really isn't any way to avoid withdrawals that I know of.  Your brain has to repair.  Its almost like that painful withdrawal process IS part of the healing process.

Tell us more about you and your situation and we can provide
