Tryin - I stopped taking my pain meds almost 3 months ago..a month ago I had to take them for about 3 weeks for wisdom teeth pain and surgery...and when I stopped taking them again, I had a few uncomfortable days, but now I'm back to normal and didn't have to start over.

However...if you can figure out a way to manage without the pills, I highly recommend that. I'm a chronic pain patient who was taking 15mg hydrocodone a day (total)..took them as prescribed, never abused them, etc....but I got sick of the cycle of physical dependence. I can tell you that it's hard as h3LL to manage the pain without the pills, and I'm trying to find new methods of coping...but I think it's worth a try, don't you? If you're collapsed on the floor gasping in agony, yeah you can take a pill, but you'll be surprised how much you can take now that you don't take the pills regularly...they really do mess up our perception and methods of coping with pain.

good luck, do what you feel you  must but don't undo all the hard work you've done to get to day 5! I really think this is your brain hammering the pain home trying to get you to take another pill....is it going to work?

Hey--I'm not sure about the withdrawals starting over but 1 pill might lead to another.  Everyone is different.  If you can make it without it, that would be your best bet.  Good luck!

I see a lot of people say that one pill is just going to start the addiction all over which may be true with some people....but...i also know that after 30 days the lack of energy will be gone...so if i took this pill for work tonight...would that 30 days start over??

Dont take it...yes it just starts the cycle over again!!! This is just rebound pain, after your body has tried making you physically sick to take a pill, its next move is to trick you into thinking your in pain to take a pill. Stick it out Be Tough, get some otc counter stuff for pain, advil, aleve, excederin is really good, and I would suggest drinking a 5hour energy that really helps me, and pray! You will make it!!! Your in my prayers tonight!!!

Yeah you are probably right about that but i have lost all contacts with the people who helped me get them and i only have like 10 left in my script and i wanna make them last a while??so not saying i will but essentially if i did take one before my shift at work tonight would i be withdrawaling again in 3 more days or would tommorow just feel like today??

have you tried alternative means to manage your pain. physical therapy, chiropractor, acupunture, exercise? many times the pain is rebound pain, your brain telling you you need another pill. try to go a week without any and see how the pain is then. if you are addicted to them ,it is almost impossible to only use them once in awhile. try otc meds for now. advil, an nasid for reducing inflammation.

Bulging disks but i decided to quit when i was spending more money on them when my perscription was out....just wanna be able to take one every now and then when the pain needs to be taken away like tonight at work we have a lot of extra stuff to be done and seem almost impossible to do it without one you know?? I've been okay until today its a 7 hour shift and just dont wanna end up getting fired for not getting what i need to done....if i took half of one before my shift would the w.d.s start over or is there a time period you have to wait??
