ibigaine

Please this is my first time on and I have many questions about ibigain. I only know what I have found on the internet. I know it is not FDA approved and would like know if anyone has traveled to receave Ibogaine treatment for heroin addiction. Any information would be great. There is not alot of people I can talk to who would understand why I need to know. It this a real drug and does it work. My bf I care about very much is in treatment again. He is seriosly considering Ibogaine, so any feed back would be great he is 40 and needs to stop his cycle of substance abuse.

I've only spoken to one or two folks who used it...and it seems to work.

It's VERY expensive. It's actually a drug that puts you in a highly susceptible state. In this state, they do "therapy" and get at the core of your addiction. They are, in essence, brain washing you not to use again. This, I have mixed feelings about. that's ALOT of risk there; giving someone that kind of access to your psyche.

As to the withdrawals...the lack of any opiate withdrawals while going through this process seems to be a side effect (some side effect!!!). They don't understand why it happens, but are taking advantage of it.

Keep in mind that relapse is possible with this drug. Generally if you don't get at the core issues of your addiction (which in this case, is up to the ability of the "handler") the likelihood of relapse is high.

so i just asked my fiance and he does not know a whole lot but they have learned a little bit about it in med school.  He said it is a new form of treatment which is illegal to posses in most countires unless in a controled environment.  He also said it comes from some kind of african plant or something?
And that some people who have been treated with it have never used again.  It comes in pill form and originated in U.k.  it is not addictive and treatment starts around 3500 to 4000 dollars.  some people only need to take it once to be successufl in treatment while others need multiple treatments. hope that helps....
