Gonna start detox from Percs tomorrow, question about going to methadone clinic???

Hi, I have been using Percs for over a year now..... Up to 100 mgs a day. I am so sick and tired of this controlling my life, constantly looking for pills and being desperate when I can't find any.  I'm so much better than this. I am a professional with a good paying job, I'm a mother of a beautiful little girl so I'm ready to take my life back. It's part of my new year resolution. I was going to wait and get clean jan 2nd but im currently down to two 5mg Percs and that's it. Better to do it now. I've tried before and failed miserably because the w/d symptoms are so bad I couldn't withstand them and work. I have to work, so has anyone on here went to the methadone clinic and have it work for you?  I was wondering if I start the methadone tomorrow how long will it take for me to be normal and not have to be on the methadone anymore?  I don't want to end up addicted to methadone while trying to kick the perc addiction. Please, I need advice on what to do cause quitting cold turkey is not an option for me at this point

Just for reference, it took me a year to feel better after methadone addiction, 2 years to feel like myself. If your goal is med free, not med maintenance, avoid methadone with all your might, no exaggeration. Put took me longer to feel okay after methadone than the whole time you've been using, so that woukd be a step deeper into addiction and a far worse detox. IMO. Keep posting. The amino acids, electrolytes, and Cal/mag/zinc helped me most, you can do this.

My opinion.....stay the hell away from the Methadone clinic!!!!!  If your down to 2 (5mg) a day....just continue to wean off of the opiates.  You will do yourself no justice by switching to methadone and the beast of addiction will be even bigger.

I forgot this part: Im unsure of the cost. I would look for the generics (same thing). Best of luck!

I don't see why not. There mostly just bits and supplements. I do understand not wanting to carry arnd a 10 pound bag so maybe you could get one of those weekly pill holders to stuff in your purse.
I promise, you will be fine. It's a hell of a battle but very worth it in the end :)
Also, be sure to post up. It really does help to talk about it. No judgement here either!

Ok, I'm going to do this!  Thanks for the posts, it's like God is making a way for me to get off of these things now. This is really the best week for me to kick this due to its a short week at work and my daughter is with her father til wed. I have been sick like the last couple weeks with a horrible sinus infection that I haven't overed  yet so I can use it as an excuse as to why I'm sick. God this is going to be rough but I'm gonna do it without doing the methadone. I've heard horror stories about it so I'm gonna steer clear. Btw, how much do all the items in the Thomas recipe cost??  And will I be able to take these items and work at the same time??

PS.
I jumped off of 100 mg of Oxy after being on significantly higher doses of various opiates for nearly 6 years.  I was pretty sick for 4 days, and just worn out for 7 days.  I didn't get normal sleep for 3 weeks.  But after that I felt AWESOME.
You can do this.

I know exactly how you feel. I am now 35 days clean off of Norco and was scared sh!tless of the withdrawl. But I did it and so can you!
The worst of the symptoms last about 7-10 days. Have you looked up the Thomas Recipe? There are alot of very good subs in there that will help you through this. There is unfortunately no way to avoid the w/d's for the vast majority of us but it can be done.
Do you possibly have anyone that could take your child for the first 3 days or so?
Keep posting, it really helps and there are several of us that have been in your shoes that'll show support.
Best Wishes,

Honey, it's just like the flu.  A really really bad flu.  A lot of the folks on here have worked through withdrawal (not me!!!) by telling their bosses and co-workers they have the flu.  Many just call in sick.  Honestly, you would be getting out of the frying pan and into the fire with methadone.
It would be trading a short acting opiate addiction for a monster of a drug that is SO hard to come off of.
With percocet you are looking at 4-7 days of sickness.  With methadone you are looking at atleast 30 days.
Just do it now.  Ask for help with the little ones.  Don't be alone in this.  I know that it is scary, but it is what is needed to get YOU back.
We will all support you here.
Hugs,
Lu

As of today, I've taken three 5mgs and saving the others for tomorrow b/c I have to work and can't go through horrible w/d at work.  God I'm so scared of going through the w/d's because I've tried in the past and they were so bad that I ended up buying more damn Percs just so I could feel normal. I hate this crap and I want to be off of them so bad!

From what I've read, seen, heard Methadone can be harder to get off of than normal pain meds. Oxycodone/hydrocodone are short acting meds and easier to come off of. Methadone takes months to detox with alot of drops, it's seriously like trading one evil for another. IMO a taper is best, which I believe you've already begun(?). How many 5mg are you currently taking in a day?
