I'm glad you posted again, I was wondering how you were doing.

Your situation sounds like a nightmare! How long will it be till your husband is back and able to help you? I didn't quite remember if he is coming back, or if you are going to be moving to where he is once you heal up.  

I hope you can get more help...do you have any friends around who can at least help you with the kids some?

thanks for your note. Just having a huge pity party for one, and the table is full! I probably was not ready to be off the meds completely and I stopped the oxycontin cold, no tapering off, but my doc did not say anything about how to taper off, just that if I need the 'codone, that's Ok, but the 'contin should be discontinued if possible. I was having outrageous nightmares, which I told her about, but for pain management, that worked the best. I was not prepared for how much pain I would be in after the arthrodesis, so the whole thing has freaked me out. Husband connected to me only by phone and email and kids have their own agendas, and yes they help me, but not without alot of lip...again, I lost control of that boat long before I broke my ankle. With severly limited mobility and being cooped up in my "office boudoir" I guess It's best I just chill out and recover. STill need the oxycodones at night for sure. Even with not moving out of my bed, I still am in pain by nightfall. Tylenol during the day doesn't cut it either, and I am worried about how much more medicine I will really need. And I still cry alot! Agan thanks for your response.

If someone had e-mailed Chezz, then they could have had an e-mail containing a virus that LOOKED like it came from him.  This is called "a spoof" and amoung other things it can put e-mail in your in-box that says it's from someone in your address book.  In fact, no e-mail was received, but it was all created by the virus inside the "receipient's" computer.

I do not believe I mentioned the name Chezz in the post but again if I did it was because someone was using your name already. You had already changed to Chezz2.

Also I did scan my computer. I do everyday because I get alot of junk email, sales stuff and the like. There was one redflagged a week ago and it indicated a virus so I deleted it from email and backup sources.

Again, you are right that we have always been cordial but you were cutting all contacts. That is common for addicts as I also go through isolation periods which are not necessarliy mentally healthy. We all do that though from time to time, we need time out for ourselves to re-group our thoughts. I always thought you were a great guy, I would have even wanted to meet you but being across the globe it's difficult. Beisdes you're married as I seem to recall.lol

I never suspected you and there may have been a better way of wording that post to warn Mariposa about email. And no, I wasn't thinking a hacker could get in through email, but the IP address is easy enough. I don't have the floating kind unfortunately.

I don't know if you ever really met PS, but he is whom I have always suspected. He even desired taking over the forum, what more does that tell you about his goals?

Anyway, I took your comment of me being evil as a joke since you added,lol. That's why I joked back the same way. That thread was deleted fast though so I don't know if you caught it.

I was upfront with this post, I said who I really think it is, if I am wrong than I am wrong. It won't be the first or last time. Like you said it would be nice to have those little cameras to see who we are conversing with. You asked PS for a camera link which he promised and never provided you. So you may have talked on the phone but that doesn't always say much, just like posting, it's fairly anonymous if you never really met in person. The only other suspect is the three initial person who always seems combative with other posters.

I think well of everyone, no matter if they use or not or however they look on camera.lol

I don't mean to make this into a novel, hell, the reporter may get too much info.lol I think that was all fake too somehow, but who knows.

You are right. I have left the site until the other day when someone got a hold of me and said I might want to take a look. And then again tonight saying I gave someone a virus and broke into their computer via email!!!
It is going to take you and the rest of the people here keeping it positive and not bashing on each other to make this forum work again.
By judging, jumping on people, ect it is just going to stay stagnant.

I am taking a break from the forum and will probably come back sometime. For right now, I don't want to lurk or post. I am just emailing a couple people from here and taking some time to myself.

I hope you all will get this place humming again with great support, and helping to keep it a sanctuary for everyone.

You never mentioned Chezz2. What the heck does that have to do with the price of tea in china,anyway. I had to change my name here just like a couple other people. That has nothing to do with my yahoo mail account. And I won't be changing it. All that person did is get the 3 digit code here for some names.
My email is my email. And everybody knows it here if they read my posts. They also know who Chezz is. You didn't say the idiot who has been messing around here.
So you were SIMPLY saying I sent you a virus. I didn't jump to any conclusions.
You also didn't even scan you system for a virus. You just said it LOOKED like one. So, like I said, please be SURE before you go saying stuff like that.
You also said I may have tried to mess around on your computer. How in the heck is that possible from sending you an email. You might need to rethink that one.

Furthermore, if I ever send anyone an email I hope they have the respect to let me know so I can check my system for a worm or a virus too. That is how they travel, is via email without the senders knowledge.

Lastly, can we please leave this out of the forum. We have had enough go on here already. Let be cordial and email each other if you want to discuss this.
It looks like the forum is getting back on its feet and is a HAPPY place to be now. I would like to see it that way. It is a GREAT place to be when it is like that.

The last email I sent you was to apoligize and say lets leave it at that. So I hope we can. I enjoyed our correspondence prior to all of this and I hope we can continue on like that, or just move forward and continue to enjoy this forum.

I never accused you personally. In fact, remember someone was using your name and easily could have used your email or my email if they read it since we both posted it.

I do have a firewall but they aren't absolute.
Norton utilities has a great way of setting one up and a good warning system as well.

You may want to change your email name so the person using your name before can't use it. I was simply saying there was an email that was red-flagged, meaning (watchout for viruses). The other email just under it was also from the same name and posted at the same time with the apology and it was very readable. You asked for forgiveness. I even responded back to you with an I forgive you message both email and a post on the forum if you don't recall. It was deleted the following morning because of other negative stuff on the same thread.

So please don't jump to conclusions, I am just telling another poster what happened to my email when she mentioned what happened to hers. I never mentioned your name Chezz2 or accused you of being the imposter.

I certainly am not paranoid or I never would have given you my email in the first place.

Please stop accusing me of stuff on here. I am getting tired of reading them.

Hippy as well as a couple other people got the same exact email. It was copied and pasted from word. It was an apoligy for accusing you of messing with the forum and my email.
If you like ask Hippy, Suzie or Peagravel(love the new name Deb ;).     In fact Peagravel emailed me back and said she couldn't read it either.

So once again please stop accusing me unless you know for sure that i gave you a virus. Trying to get people all worried for nothing is ridiculous.
You might also think about not being so paranoid and use a virus scanner and a simple firewall.
www.zonealarm.com is free. It is also the one I use. I also was pming with Suzie today trying to help her set it up so she is better protected as well. Set all of the settings to high and you should be fine.

Yes, there is someone playing with emails from Yahoo, on my computer it read ***@**** which is Chezz email he sent a couple of weeks ago. I already posted this but the thread was erased very quickly yesterday.

One of the mails had a virus planted so I deleted it and went into my history and secondary backup files to erase it. I even checked my DOS settings but everything was okay there. One post from him was saying he was leaving the site for a while until things calm down and get back to normal, and then the other was red flagged and just a bunch of jibberish of letters and numbers, typical of a virus. Luckily I did not have to completely open it so I didn't get infected. Just a pain to have to watch so carefully. I don't leave email on my list so he probably would have been bored to try to read anything.

He may have tried to access other portions of the computer so be careful and change passwords frquently and have different ones for different operations of your computer. It will help protect your file folders and email, etc.

Annabella I'm sorry so few have responded to you!

When I read your situation the first thing I asked myself was "why is she off the meds if her pain is still so high?"
So, let me ask you...are you really ready to be off them? Did the Doc cut you off, leaving you with pain that is untreated?
If so, that is really unethical, especially with you being alone with the kids.

I also didn't know from your post whether you have ever been in the situation that felt that you were abusing them, like most of us here have been. It sounded more like you've been taking them for pain and then found yourself in withdrawals with no help.

If you can clarify your situation, I'll do my best to help if I can. If nothing else, we can offer you support.

Please keep posting. Sometimes it takes a while to get a response, but everyone's posts are valuable. The new folks are really important, and I'm sorry your post fell through the cracks.

Do you have a firewall program on your computer?  If you have DSL (which is broadband), cable, or T1, you should have a firewall on your computer.  A hacker can enter your computer through an open port.  Hackers are constantly scanning the internet for computers with open ports, usually with trojan horses.  That way, they can gain access to your computer.  It sounds like when your hard drive was running, someone was in your computer.  A good firewall is Norton Internet Security.  It will close up all ports and keep ALL intruders out.  It also registers each time someone attempts to access your computer.  My computer was scanned 37 times one day.  That is no joke.  Windows XP has a firewall built into it.

You should run a firewall for sure. XP has it built in, otherwise grab Zone Alarm, its free.

I want to first of all thank you for posting all that you have learned, it is very helpful.

My ears perked up especially with your theory of us addicts having naturally low levels of seratonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. I absolutely agree with you. When the doc gave me Wellbutrin, it wigged me out. I felt wired and got really out of control with my anger. Bad med for me.  You just helped me understand why! Thank you.

I do really well on several supplements, all targeted to restore and balance seratonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. I take 5 htp and SAME for the seratonin, L-Tyrosine for the norepinephrine and dopamine, and Depranyl for the dopamine. Deprenyl is a miracle medicine for me.  It is different kind of maoi inhibitor, meaning it doesn't require all the food restrictions and does not have a lot of bad interactions.  It protects the substia nigra portion of the brain, the center that actually produces dopamine. It encourages it to boost dopamine production, and I've been on it for about a year. It helps a lot. There is a certain level of clarity I noticed after a week of taking it.

I do agree that the addicts brain is different, and that we need help in regulating these neurotransmitters. I wonder if our brains were off kilter from the get go, making us vulnerable to addiction, or if it was the years of drug abuse that made the brain get off kilter.  That would be a good question to put to the new Doc, once she or he gets here to help us answer questions.

Oh man, I feel for you. I hope the surgeries go ok for you. I also am holding off on getting a tatoo on my lower back, because that is the spot where I might be getting surgery if I end up agreeing to go under the knife again. I always said I'd get my first tatoo at 40, and I'll be 40 in January. I guess I should find a different spot for the tatoo, eh?

My surgeries were a laporotamy for endometriosis, where they removed all the endo tissue (to be gross, I had reverse flow..it all went into my abdominal cavity rather than out of my body. yuck and ow!) That plus low dose estrogen pills every day mostly keep the endo under control.  For my back I had an IDET, where they stick a wire inside a disc, heat it up and basically cauterize the inside. They did two of my discs. I hurt like hell, and actually made me worse.  Now they say fusion is the best option for me, and I'm not convinced. I'm doing a lot of reading on ways to reduce back pain through excercise. But I'm the excercise Queen and it hasn't really fixed me. I do pilates, yoga, cardio, strength training and bellydancing, and still have pain. It's genetic. My mom and dad both have bad back and dad had a few surgeries in his 30's for it too. He's ok now, but very sedentary and I don't want that to be my future.
