job interview

hi everyone, as you may know I have been tapering off codiene, today i went down to 60mg.  I got a phone call this afternoon to attend a job interview (I am currently on leave from my job and looking for a new one).  Because I cut down today (before the phone call) I will probably feel awful in the morning when I wake up, thats taking into account if I even sleep.  Any ideas, don't want to go in there a blubbering mess, which is really on the cards and certainly don't want to take any extra codiene just to get through the interview.  Maybe just take a big breath before the interview :-)

Hi Deb

This is my second time tapering, the first time I just used panafin plus and got down to eleven a day. But I got sick with dengue fever and the pain in my joints just made me go back on them big time, that was at the beginning of last year.

I've got a problem with a disc in my neck and you wouldn't believe it but I put my neck out this morning just laying down to play with my dog.  Now I can't turn my head and it really hurts.  I did go to the doctors last week and asked him to put me on a anti inflammatory so I am hoping that will fix it.

I would like to find a doctor who specialises in addictions and pain management but probably won't find one in Cairns.  Maybe that could be something you could consider?

Take care and stay in touch,
Cindy

Hi Deb

Would you need to withdraw from the tramadol as well?

I've had a terrible couple of days, probably averaged about 3 hours sleep the last two nights.  I can handle all the other withdrawals but I can't handle being tired.

I know when I started to taper off the panafen I actually got rid of the panafen and only kept the panadiene forte in the house.  I found I enjoyed taking the panafen plus more than the panadiene forte, don't ask me why but I think it was a mental thing.  The panadiene forte took away the whole ritual of taking the panafen plus, I know it sounds strange and I don't really understand it but I think it worked in helping me taper off the codiene.

Hang in there and beleive in yourself, you can do this.

Take care
Cindy

This is a really though thing I went thru for along time. I would feel like **** wding and have a jib interview or work and take more drugs just so i could make it to the interview and not be sick. And all I did was push the wds longer. Getting ur life back is more important than any job j.terview because if you don't you won't even be able to maintain a job. So if anything call and reschedule it but don't take more and put yourself 2 steps back.

Hi cindy im not going so good i just keep saying i will start tomorrow but when i wake up the first thing i think of is the panafen it is more mentally for me as it dosn't really do much for me but i i no the tramadol helps with the wd still get a bit sweaty and tired but better than cold turkey as i was in bed for days so so sick...i have one pkt of panafen 15's left i would love too be strong enough too keep them in my cupboard and start again on these tramadol as they are slow release so you only need one in morning and at night......I am glad your daughter is being honest with you it's good she can be she definitly needs some outside help with this so she dosn't start to self harm herself or before she ever does get to using the needles...you are doing great i wish you and your daughter the best of luck and i hope oneday we can all say we bet them and we will good to hear from you Deb.. :)

Hi Deb

How are you going?  I am getting really concerned about my daughter, she was being really honest with me the other day and told me she has even considered getting straight codiene and injecting it.  She did use needles in the past to inject drugs so she is no stranger to needles.  I want her to go to her caseworker at ATODS and tell them this, even if she can't get off drugs by herself because of her mental illness they need to work out a stragety to minimise the harm.  In the perfect world she would taper or go cold turkey, but she doesn't have the ability to do that but they need to take her conditions into account and work out a solution otherwise she is going to go from bad to worse.

Hope you are going ok, have you managed to taper down?

Cindy

Hi, I was taking up to 382mg of codiene now I have got to 45mg, I don't know much about Vic, the one here in Australia is a mix of codiene and Ibuprofen.  The pain pills are really a problem, so many people seem to be addicted to them, I actually went to the doctors (who knows I am addicted to the codiene) last week to talk about going off the codiene and he argued with me, said i was making a mistake because I won't be able to manage the pain.  Think its time to find a new doctor.

thanks to everyone one else, the deep breath helped,  I also made sure I was looking my best.  Amazing what make up can cover :-)  Waiting on a phone call tomorrow for a second interview.

Stay strong everyone xx

You'll be fine once interview starts. Go to company website and learn about company. Learn who and how they started, company like that if you know their history.
But once you get on site for interview you will be fine. Before and after you might feel anxious.
Good luck with interview!

Hi...
I understand your fear...I had a big board meeting a week or so into my detox (c/t opiates) and I hadn't slept in days...I was terrified.  But you know what?  I was great-better than I thought.  Doing an extra special job with my hair and make up helped as did taking deep breaths and making sure I got out and exercised to bring my brain and body down to earth...(:

Deep breaths are the most under-rated cure for anxiety...You can do this...Lu
