Was going to stop this week. Now I can't because of prednisone.

Had to put off my latest plan to quit. I had quit for a few weeks (my norm) then I started having extreme neck and shoulder pain when working at the computer. Could not sit for more that a few
minutes. So I started taking pain meds again. That stopped working very quickly but I was already addicted again only after a week or so. So I was going to quit but was prescribed some prednisone 6 a day then 5 then 4 an so on for 6 days and that stuff is brutal!  I am on day three and feeling awfull. Sweating like a goat. Especially at night. It might be wd's too though since I have decided to really taper
down to 15 mg perc once per day in the morning.  Down from about 20-40 mg of oxy and 15 mg
perc's per day. So the combination of tapering
and taking the steroids has been bad. So I decided I cannot quit until next week after this steroid business is over. The only time I feel ok is after my morning dose of perc's. I don't think it's ALL w/d but its definitly some of my problem. I have never sweat so much in my life and I am in a terrible mental state. But it has cured my neck for now. Too bad I can't work due to feeling like ***. I hope the steroids have a LASTING benefit long after I stop taking them or this will sooooo not be worth it. :(

HI I had the same side effects when I took predazone also that stuff makes you feel awful
it should start to get a little better as the dose drops off but It didnt agree with me ether
you can start to detox off the narcotics next week when your thew with it

I would talk with your doctor then if the steroids are making you feel bad.  Hopefully you will get to a place in your mind where you will do whatever it takes to get off those pain pills.       sara

Bad chills and really bad sweating. Along with making me very zombie like and no sleep. It's just going to be double tough doing both right now. It's like a double hit to my system and I just can't be down like that right now. I do feel a little better later on in the day today though. Only had to take 4 prednisones. I guess the only thing I am saying is that it's not that I can't do
it for medical reasons but my system can't take it right now. I'm already just dreading making the jump off of the perc's and I believe
I have to be physically up for it and mentally. And right now with how crappy these steroids are
making me feel I just think it will be double the stress right now.

I am wondering what is the steroids doing that is making it so difficult to stop taking the pain meds? What side effects are you have from the steroids?

Inflamation in my neck and shoulder. Extreme pain when sitting/working. Actually working
now with NO PAIN what so
ever and my last perc was like 12:00pm so I know it's not that working. The steroids are working. I just hope it's long lasting. I may have to see a chiropractor or
something if this comes
back.

Why are you on the prednisone?
