You are likely experiencing withdrawals from xanax, vicodin, and possibly alcohol. Xanax and/or alcohol should NEVER be stopped cold turkey, the withdrawals are very dangerous, can lead to seizures, stroke and can be fatal. Your risk is increased because of your withdrawal from the hydrocodone that is in vicodin and possibly a psychological "dependency" on the marijuana. Marijuana has not been shown to be physically addictive, but anytime your body is that used to something it is never a good idea to stop it suddenly while not under close supervision of a doctor that specializes in addiction.
Benzodiazepines( xanax, valium, ativan etc.) have to be taperd down slowly. Alcohol dependency must be treated by a physician with the proper medication.

I can relate.....but it might be the nicotine in the pot that you miss more than the actual drug......aside from the ill effects of actually smoking weed I think the drog is relatively harmless.....and you talking to someone who has smoked weed since the early 70's.......and still will on occasion ( like tonight)........sounds like you're giving up alot of other things too..so relax.....and smoke a little if you have too........just remember......smoking isn't healthy......Pot's illegal.......and you shouldn't ever drive while doing it.......Just my opinion.........don't want to start a debate with anyone.......It just works with me......it always has......and its never been a problem yet!
You're right in recent research we have found that the use of pot does no permanent damage to the brain ( I didn't mention anything about the lungs) What happens when you smoke weed is the nerve cells in your brain gain a thicker and thicker myelin coating around them, causing your neurotransmitters to not be able to communicate with each other as well. After stopping the use of pot the myelin(fatty layers) slowly starts to dissintegrate
And a nicotine fun fact: that is one addiction that is definitely more psychological than physical. No matter how long you have smoked, when you stop it takes the body 2-3 days to begin producing its own natural stimulants like dopamine and norepinephrine- physical withdrawal done! If you have experienced otherwise there were other factors interfereing.
I'm going to go lie down with my baby girl and my other baby girls and boys(kitties) hubby pulled the short straw for working the ER tonight hehe
