tylenol pm or anything over the counter sleep wise is not addicting, though you can always get a mental craving or feeling that you "need" to take it to get to sleep, but ambien can actaully cause a real addiction which includes mentally and physically addictive. i took it everynight for almost two years along with xanax or any other benzo i could find, along with my DOC's oxycontin or heroin, but the ambien addiction is real and you catn just shake it off, it is simliar to benzo withdrawal whcih can be deadly, but a little miler, but when i say a little, i really mean a little. needless to say i definitely fealt the need to take tylenol pm or unisom(usually doxxylamine succinate or diphenyldramine, both sedating anti-histamines) everynight to help me sleep, but i never fealt truly addicted to it and it wasnt like there was a shortage of it, unfortunately there never seemed to be a shortage with ambien, xanax, and so on either....careful getting dependant on sleeping meds cuz theyll make you beleive in a matter of a few months that you need them to sleep, i know they sure as hell did for me and still call my name at night.......trying to sing me a lullaby of addictive bullcrap:),,, dont lsiten to it its a fallacy...

Hi plinko. Tylenol has two active ingredients, acetaminaphen and pseudoaphedrine, along with an antihistamine. The acetaminaphen is not addictive, and pseudoephedrine by itself is not considered addictive either- and antihistimines are not physically addictive, contrary to what some allergy sufferers may believe.

Ambien, on the other hand, definitely poses a risk for addiction. It is classified as a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic, acting on the GABA receptors in the brain (the same receptors that Valium, Xanax, Ativan, etc effect) which make it much more likely to be abused.

So physically speaking, Ambien is more addictive. However, you could be phsychologically addicted to the tylenol sinus PM much more than the Ambien if that makes sense... So it really depends on how many and how long you have been taking the pills.

yes...it is less addictive...but anything that u use for sleep can cause dependence..ambien is not as addictive for most as benzodiazepines but is addictive for many especially if used over a long period of time....even tylenol pm has a caution to use two weeks or less then talk to ur doctor about the sleeping problems

YES! YES! YES!

Which one are you currently taking?  I have not kept my feelings about ambien a secret here.  AMBIEN almost ruined my life.  It almost caused me to kill myself many times over, and I have no doubt if I would have kept using it I would not be able to type this because I would be DEAD!  Go back and read my journals about the ambien. It has become my mission in life to show people what could happen with that drug.  I have even gone so far as write some of the magazines I subscribe to because they have so many ads for that drug in them.  I have put my story out there for the world to see.  If it can change one person's decision to use this drug then it is worth it..

Please email me, I would be glad to help.
