I have been on methadone for 5 1/2 yrs and the loss of memory started about 3 yrs ago that I could tell. I have thought that it was a symptom of adult ADD or my past drug use catching up with me because no one in the methadone clinic (counselors) had ever heard of a correlation of the two. I have to call bullcrap on that having learned by research that the "fog" seems directly related to any amount of methadone therapy. Time to get off methadone!!!

I've been on methadone for 6 months. And I loose everything. Keys credit cards anything I set down. Forget to do things. Sometimes I drop my mom off and drive home, forgetting to stop at the methadone clinic. The clinic says "I haven't heard of that". I'm on 80mg. Has anyone else experienced this as fast. I am really worried, my dad died 4 years ago. From glioblastoma, which is the worst type of brain cancer and one of the symptoms is short term memory loss. I'm 21, and I had to check to make sure I didn't say that already... :/

I have been dealing with short term memory loss over the past 5 yrs...and YES! It really began with being put on Methadone 10mg twice daily for chronic pain BY a Pain Management MD. The Methadone worked fairly good for the pain, but I attributed the "brain fog" to my being Menopausal also happening at the same time AND having a teenager in the house pushing my buttons. I lost my health ins coverage last year and could not afford to see the PM MD, so I weaned myself off the Methadone over several months.
Now I am 90% clearer mentally! The brain 'fog' is rare to happen now. I am at a huge loss as to what to do about the pain, but I know I was on a very minute dose of Methadone compared to most, and it still effected me big time. It's sad, as Methadone is cheap and effective for chronic pain. It is not worth the memory loss to me.

I hace to chuckle at this, I have been on methadone for 9 years and I always say I am not as smart as I used to be! LOL..I was hoping it was age! No, seriously, my memory seems to be a little off, but not sure what to attribute that to, the methadone or the other drugs I did for so long!
