It is not morphine. It is extended release oxymorphone. If you are familiar with OCs, Roxys or even percs, then you are in the right chemical family. Their are 2 chemicals in  OCs and the stronger of the 2 is Oxymorphone. I am prescribed Opana 40mg as well.  They are extremely strong. Be careful, many can throw up on them.

My doctor gave me a rx 2 days ago for Opana ER 40MG.read about it but was determined to take to get off Lortab 10,12-15 a day.Long story short my insurance would not cover it,and for 60 pills the lowest price I got was $688.00.Forget that.

I TO WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ABOUT 6 YEARS BACK. BEFORE THEN I NEVER TOOK OUR TRIED ANYTHING. I MEAN NOTHING. I DONT SMOKE, I DRANK ONLY IF I WENT OUT WITH THE GUYS ECT.
THE DOCTOR I WENT TO PUT ME ON LORATABS, XANAX AND SOMA. I THINK THIS WAS THE NORMAL COCTAIL FOR ALL OF THE DOCS IN THE AREA. BEFORE I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I WAS AKING ALL THAT HE WAS PERSCRIBING AND THEN BUYING ANY I COULD GET MY HANDS ON ON THE BLACK MARKET. IT GOT WHERE I WAS TAKING ABOUT 20 PLUS LORATABS A DAY. I FINALLY GOT TIRED OF IT AND GOT PUT ON SUBOXIN. I BARELLY GOT ANY WITHDRAWL SYMTOMS AND AFTER TWO WEEKS OF IT I WAS COMPLETLY OFF OF THEM. BY THIS TIME I HAD BEEN ON THE LORATABS FOR OVER 3 YEARS. ABOUT 1 YEAR LATER I WAS OFFERED A LORATAB AT A CLUB AND THAT STARTED A FIRESTORM. AGAIN BEFORE I KNEW IT I WAS TAKING OVER 40 A DAY AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TO ASHAMED TO ASK ANYONE FOR HELP. I FIGURED FOR ME TO RESPECT THIS I NEEDED TO QUIT ON MY ON. I GOT MY HANDS ON A METHADONE 40 MG WAFER. BROKE IT IN HALF AND THE FIRST DAY I TOOK A HALF. 3 DAYS LATER WHEN I GOT REAL BAD I TOOK A QUARTER. AFTER 5 MORE DAYS I TOOK THE OTHER QUARTER AND I HAVE NOT TOUCHED ANYTHING ELSE IN OVER 4 YEARS. ONCE YOU GET YOUR MIND IN ITS RIGHT PLACE, YOUR BODY WILL FOLLOW. ITS NOT EASY BUT ITS WELL WORTH IT.   RACER-22-0

good luck with your surgery, I'll say a few prayers for you, One if my friends had that done two years ago and now a days it is nothing compared to years ago, they went in through her bellybotton, I think, The recovery time was a week I think, dont quote me on that though..
At any rate if you need some moral support while your recovering and if you just need someone to say  "you can do it!", I'll be here, I am sure I'll need the same, I had 5 years in recovery before this happened, (I was rear ended by a bus that lost his brakes) Thank God all I really hurt was my neck, not that it wasnt enough, that was in 2005 and I have been through vicodins, roxis, you name it I probably tried it and when it came to the methadone it was a reality check for me, even so a year or more later here I am still on it....
again good luck with your surgery...suzeeq164

Thanks for the response, I was getting really ansy last night, yes, I am trying to just get off the methadone, I was involved in  car accident in 2005, (bus lost his brakes and rear ended me) I have had 1 surgery and don't want another on my neck, It started out with vicodins, to roxis to methadone. Now I know that, or I think anyways and am willing to try. if I can get off all this and give my body a chance to get back to normal it is amazing what a advil or tylenol can do, ya know?
at any rate , I started the opana today to get off the methadone. It seems so far to be making it tolerable, allthough I know the meth stays in your system for a really loong time but if I am off the meth for 2 weeks or longer from what I hear I can use the suboxome to detox with, I really want to be free from the pain killers and see exactly hoew I feel with out them and if I am in pain and advil doesnt work I will know nexttime , if there is one, never to get on the methadone, I know for some popkle it is ok but for me I hate it, it is a personal thing, I have seen it destroy too many lives.
thans again for answering and any advise would be much appreciated,
I can handle the achyness, and the flu symptoms, it is the restlessness and the ebeejeebees I cant take!
thanks again

I thank you very much for the advice and yes,  I do know about the dangers of the morphine, Unfortunetly I am on methadone for over a year at quite a high dose and I want more than life itself to get off the meth., I know it will be too hard to just stop, so i plan on taking the opana (day 1 , today) for a week or so) and eventually try to take the suboxome and detox with that,
I know of a few poeple that had success with that,m the bottom liner us if you really want off it is amazing what a advil will do for you after all this **** is out of my system
this is the third time I have tried to reply to you because for some reason I keep losing the page and it goes to web md?? weird!
I can handle the aches and pains and even the vomitting and diareah it is the ebejebees and the restlessness I cant take , probably like everyoner else
so, are you also taking something for pain? Any plan if you are, of getting off?
thanks again

it is morphine, Be very careful, i wouldnt take it but i understand not wanting to go ct that is so scary. Just be very carefull taper at very small dose till you are ready to jump off and be free from all of it, Did you tell your doctor that you have problems with pills? morphine seems a bit much if he knows about the problem. Sorry so many ?'s =)
