methadone withdrawal

Question

im 46 and was on 30mgs a night for a few years. I just quit cold turkey 12 days ago. ive been exercising, taking 20 minut saunas, and trying to eat really healthy foods. I dont do any other drugs. I however have been taking phenphedrine ( diet pill), to help increase my energy during the day for working out and to lose weight. So far on the 12th day of no methadone ive not experienced any of the horror storie withdrawal symtoms everyone writes about. I do however have insomnia and mild diahrea and occasional sneezing. I know these symptoms are my body telling me it wants methadone.But i can handle this. I just want to know how much longer till i feel 100% again. IM aware it takes awhile and why but please somebody smarter  than me give me something to shoot for, how much longer. A couple days,---a week,--2weeks??

HI and welcome to the forum....count your self lucky you dident have the usual grind getting off methadone ....every once in a wile I run into someone like you and for whatever reason it just dosent seam to grab hold of you...your symptoms are extremely mild
for detoxing off 30mg 12 days ago....as for the energy thing it can take a wile to come back
your withdrawal was mild so should your post withdrawal energy crash ...I wish I could tell you a date or even an aprox date but its different for everyone my withdrawal was long
and fairly hard the energy thing took months for me to get back to normal but like I said your withdrawal was minor so should be your recovery time count your blessings

Hi fido.  The correct term for the dosage is mg. I make the mistake because the methadone I get is in liquid form mixed with orange drink.It is all measured as mg.              kc

what is the difference between 30mls of methadone and 30 mgs? im on 300mls and have been on meth for 18yrs i got to 400mls now coming down very slowly any advice would be good from fido71

Hi. Also I was on 30ml a day for going on 5 years,and have tapered to 6 with almost no W/D.Now A theory is beginning to come to mind.
 During this 5 years i think that I was always in a borderline state of W/D, being on that low dose for so long and never raising the dosage.Surely my tolerance to methadone increased.People who go up and up are staying ahead of the increased tolerance,thus when they taper they feel the W/D more.
 Any one who has experience with this drug, please let me know what you opinion is.Or any one else too,they all work in a similar fashion.                     karl
