methadone

What would be the best way to detox from methadone? Would I have to be put on some other kind of pill and then have to detox off of that pill to?

We both have strong convictions but we seem to be on the same side talking here even if there is differences........communication and education is very valuable.........

I think if we talked and exchanged posts we could both learn something......I never claimed to know everything and am willing to learn.......

Communication would be really kool but I will understand if you can't get by the realize thing.......

most detox places that use subutex/suboxone that i know of will not accept a methadone patient unless their system is free of methadone for 3 months, i was on a very low dose (so i am told) of methadone 20 mgs, i waited almost 5 full days from my last methadone dose before i took my first suboxone and it is by far the worst experience i have ever had,  withdrawals times 10 in intensity, my skin was burning from the inside out (i dont know about the lethal part, other than i wished i was dead at that point), after taking that first dose of suboxone i wished i would have gone cold turkey, cold turkey wasnt as bad as this (for me anyway), the difference between (the only way i can see it) cold turkey and being on suboxone is i actually made it past the 4 day mark with the suboxone where as with cold turkey i would have been on the hunt...there was no turning back after that first dose of suboxone...because it is also a type of blocker too, i GUESS i could take a handful of percs right now and wouldnt feel a thing, except probably real sick, i dont know because i just dont dare.  my suboxone doctor wouldnt even take me unless i was on 20 mg or less, and if you lie about your dose, YOU WILL PAY FOR IT DEARLY...  my suboxone doc. also told me i was her first patient to switch from strictly methadone,  she said it would have been an easier transition had i still been shooting heroin because methadone stays in your system sooooo long compared to a short acting opiod, she also told me she wont ever do that to a methadone patient again, she will prescribe them percs, vikes or whatever other short acting opiod she can because of how bad my transition was, most methadone patients that switch to sub. dont succeed, VERY LOW SUCCESS RATE, and i now know why, it has been a little over 9 weeks on sub. for me and i still feel completely horrible, i wouldnt recommend this to anyone on methadone unless they knew exactly what they were in for. this is more than a commitment for me, it has been hell for me and i wished i never started it, and i wish i never started methadone either , detoxing of percs would have been easier and quicker, physically anyway...  short acting opiod, like percs, vikes, codeine and yes heroin, transition to sub i would recommend, definately.......methadone only transition to sub, WATCH OUT!!

"why would you say "whatever you do don't try suboxone?"   If you would read my first-hand experience posts from the 22nd of last month to now, you would know.  I said, "whatever you do don't try suboxone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" because mandayb503 asked the best way to detox from methadone, and the next post said "Try Suboxone."

I am quite fed up with you telling me what I don't realize.  I am as familiar as anybody on this planet with detox procedures, and the ones that are in place that shouldn't be.  Bupe is NOT used in all drug detox, and when it is used at all with methadone detox it shouldn't be.  If any person in the medical profession says otherwise they are death afoot.  And they are wrong.  I am not going to go to the trouble here of relating to you what is already there for you to read.  I have (as have many others) first hand experience (under a doctor's care) using bupe to get off methadone.  It does not, and cannot work.  As I have said, it is a lethal combination.  Lethal.

Go back over the posts from PAULY (Suboxone 7/21/07), wait2long (7/22/07), FLaddict, me and the rest who have posted at length on this for the last two weeks.  They will educate you.  If you still think you have a firm grip on just exactly what I don't realize, send it to the center for people who care about what others don't realize.

Inpatient detox would under no circumstances use any form of bupe to treat methadone, and if they did, it would be the worst thing they could do and it would be a disasterous move made in complete ignorance.  What oneof us DOES realize (and what YOU would realize if you read the posts from PAULY et al) -- gleaned from personal experience -- is that, unlike yourself and the medical profession at large is, bupe combined with methadone combines in the body's system to create a lethal chemical that will kill you.  Period.  Ask anybody (like myself or any of the others on this forum) who has been there.  Don't tell me what I realize.  I am perfectly aware of what I realize.

With Methadone I would go into a professional inpatient detox for five days........

But they would use Subutex and or Suboxone.....

What Oneofus doesn't realize is that an addict can't treat an addict.......or a patient
can't treat a patient.........

Addicts are addicts because they cannot control drugs so this drug should be given
under very strick circumstances..........
