Hi and welcome! This is a really old thread and you might get more responses if you start your own. Just go out to the main page and hit the post a question link. I just wanted to caution you against stopping all of this on your own. It's always best to involve your doctor. The seroquel and ambien will probably need to be tapered down. Alcohol detox/ DTs can be very, very dangerous. I have gone through this myself and the symptoms you describe sound very similar to what I had. Please really consider letting your doctor in on this. Sometimes with alcohol detox, a benzo such as xanax or valium may be needed to prevent seizures. I'm not trying to scare you. I just want you to be very cautious and take care of yourself. We are here for you and want to see you get through this. Post this on your own thread and you will get all kinds of great support. I wish you nothing but the best on your road to recovery!

I am at the very beginning for my withdrawals. I've gone through a terrible divorce over the summer and was drinking almost a BIG bottle of wine a night. I would then take my seroquel to go to bed and 1/2 an ambien when i would wake up at 5am.  So I had alcoho, seroquel, and ambien in my system in the morning.  For the past two says, I have been having major anxiety, massive heart beats/blood pressure/shaked and upset stomach.  I think the alcohol needs to be weened off of first and then the ambien.I have been in total panic mode all day. feeling like i need to go to the er or something.  calm now.  drank 2 beers over past4 hours and took an ambien. feeling a little more stable. tomorrow i plan i beer and then 1 ambien to sleep.  lots of water!!
I would love some other advice about getting through the weekemd.  I had to leave work early because I was shaking so badly.    Thanks

I'm curious to know how much you drink? and for how long? years? I ask this because the sleeplessness you are experiencing could be from alcohol withdrawals. Definitely lowering your alcohol consumption is a good way to go about getting sober, as the online doctor may of explained to you (?) alcohol is very dangerous to stop completely right away. Taking some Valium will make you feel more calm but you must still be very careful. Do you have someone living with you that can keep an eye on you?

I think i would find it very hard living in another country that doesn't have a health care system that we have here in Australia...if we don't have a job (or are studying or have a low income) we don't have to pay to see doctors...we don't pay a large amount for most medications. It's hard for me to know that people in other countries aren't receiving what i consider basic human rights!

:) Thank you so much! It's odd how addiction gave me a meaning that i was searching for...for a long time (i know I'm only 25 but I'm a very inquisitive/cluey girl). Drugs/addiction has turned into a passion ...in a good way!

I believe we are all strong enough to kick some addiction butt!

Can I ask how old you are? Have you been able to monitor your bp? You are moving in the right direction and I have every bit of faith that you will plough through this. Many of us hav mixed all three of the substances you have mentioned and lived, but it is such an unnecessary gamble. If you can't seek a Dr.'s help in a physical sense, than this Dr. forum question exchange is a start. If the anxiety of it all becomes overwhelming, then the ER will be your next place to get peace and answers.I know how hard it is to do the right thing and not over react at the same time.Just a thought, a pharmacist is such a wealth of info and can guide you to some level. Glad your still here posting. Your question will no doubt help others.

thank you for your comments, I am not being funny.  I am trying to detox by myself as I don't have a job and no doctor and no money.  I talked to one doctor online and he said try to get off the alcohol first, less each day and when I am clean start taking less of the valium each day.  I did not take the ambien, and haven't I have them and am such a wreck with no sleep I was wondering.  I wouldn't, i am scared to death now.  Wathcing my vital signs, etc....I need sleep so bad,  I am a complete wreck trying to get off of these.  I can't function.  I cut the alcohol to beer yesterday and only had one 24 oz which is great for me but then had to take valium to get my pulse down, cut down on them also, but I did 3 days dry and thought I was losing my mind.

When I see posts like this I think is has to be one of two things.

1. It is a teenager watching a parent destroy themselves, who genuinely needs to ask things like this for information.
2. An adult who knows better but who is reaching out for help

I think everyone needs to occasionally remind themselves that not everyone is an "expert" like us on the dangers of obtaining, using and mixing various pills/alcohol, and thank God for that.

Yeah when i was on the Suboxone stage of my painkiller addiction treatment one of the things that helped the most was this forum...and the help and support that every single person on here was and is willing to give...

The people on here got me through a LOT of dark and hard days...now i have 215 days under my belt and I'm half way through my course to become a Drug and alcohol counselor...If it wasn't for this site and the amazing support and encouragement i received i don't think i would be studying the course i am.

No question is a stupid one. I'd MUCH rather someone ask....than just go ahead and do something life threatening

You shouldn't do it really because they set each other off so to speak and the substance's effect is heightened. It can cause a seizure, coma or death. Saying that, I drank pretty much every night whilst taking high doses of valium and klonpin, but it is a risky thing to do, also pretty stupid.

I completely agree with pay_it_forward. The thing I was most attracted to and has helped me alot is being able to ask ANYTHING on this forum without being judged. I have 3 teenage kids and although they are taught in antidrug classes about the dangers of mixing drugs and alcolhol, they would still be curious if THATS really true. Anyway, it takes alot of courage to just sign up on this forum. I'm glad your here.:)

Come on guys...not everyone knows the risks of poly drug use (two or more drugs)...especially benzos and alcohol...this person has come to us for help, there is no need to speak that way.

What they are saying is correct...as all 3 drugs you are taking are depressants and "depress" (slow down) your breathing, it is very dangerous and death is possible. Do not mix alcohol with any other drug or any medication.

Have you thought about going to your doctor and telling them about your sleeping troubles? They would be able to give you the best advice and answer any questions you might have *nods* :)

sure - you can if you don't mind the risks such as death.  The warnngs on the Rx label are there for a reason.  If you are having prolems sleep seek help from a professional.

Sure - - - you could mix them. But you might just die. I stopped breathing and required full tilt support after mixing only medium doses of methadone and zanax........woke up just as I was being removed from life support.

And you may also drink glasses of cyanide.....but its not recommended either.

Not if you want to wake up the next morning....do not mix drugs and alcohol, period.

If you are needing something for sleep, and something for anxiety, you need to inform your doctor that you drink or are planning on drinking....someone who drinks should not be taking valium regularly, and vice versa. And very often, taking things like ambien for a sleep problem is just a band-aid on a bigger problem, and when you stop taking the ambien, the problem will still be there. You need to speak with your doctor about getting to the root cause of your sleeping problems.
