my sis really needs some help!!

I know many people put their problems out as it isnt theirs but i am looking for help for my sister and her husband... they have both been taking loritabs for quite a few years now and they are highly addicted at this point. they keep trying to get off of them but the withdrawl symptoms seem to just push them right back to them. they have 3 young children and im worried for them too.  she keeps asking me for advice.. but im afraid i have never been through this and dont really know what to say or do.  is there a way to make the withdrawl symptoms a little easier to get through? she complains about getting dirrahea, naseau, headaches and says that her eyes are really black. like she hasnt slept in weeks, and this is only on day one without them.... please if anyone can help me to help her i would really appreciate it.

I have to disagree with CPS and police. Maybe I am opening Pandora's Box here, but I am very much addicted to vicodin, (wanting and trying to quit) however, my children don't need to be taken away from me. Maybe if I WAS neglecting them or abusing them then ok, but I'm not. I'm a great mom and they have an awesome father and I can't see that taking them away would be the answer. Just my opinion, please don't attack me.... ;)

I second the suboxone suggestion. Seems like they are perfect candidates for a two week suboxone taper. Google it and read up.

They both need to want to get off the pills on their own.  You can give them support but in the end it is their choice.  I think it would be very hard if only one would want to get off because the temptation to take the others pills would be too great.  Maybe they can both try to do it together and give each other the support needed.  If you read the postings you could let them know this site exists and to see how everyone is dealing with their addictions and how so many have taken the steps to start detoxing.  I have been 17 days and still feel like sometimes I could relapse but I read the postings and see that others are in worse shape and need someone to talk to and help get through the withdrawals.

Good Luck.
