nerve root block?

Has anyone had this procedure done for a bulging disc in the neck?   I also have arthritis and stenosis in the neck.  Obviously, I can't be on pain pills forever but I am so nervous about this procedure.  I am starting day 6 with no pills in 3 hours and the neck pain is debilitating.   Ice, heating pack, cryoderm, epsom salt, ibuprofen...nothing is touching this.  I have been cooking, cleaning, hiking, living my everyday routine since detox.  I also quit cigarettes at the same time  because I read if you are in pain the best thing to do is quit.
I stay positive and push myself, **** no I don't want to cook and clean and exercise! I want to lay on the couch and ball my eyes out.
I can deal with the anxiety (green tea instead of coffee), hot and cold flashes, bathroom issues.  The no sleep ***** but whatever I can suck that up to.  I can't deal with the thought of being sedated and a needle stuck in my neck.

All over the place here....my question is

Has anyone had a nerve root block? Was it helpful, how long did it last etc. Any info is greatly appreciated :)

I have had the nerve block done with great relief in my back. They do put you to sleep but you should feel results in about a week once all the medications wear off BUT read up on this. It is a great procedure but the nerve does grow back over time. It usually takes a long time but I am due for another nerve block and I trust my orthopedic surgeon and pain management team who have done this procedure.  Check with your doctor, you may require more extensive work but get the right doctor to do this. Don't be afraid, do your research and you will get an education equivalent to the doctor about your own health that is related to what is happening to you. I went through MANY doctors before I found one i trusted so that is the best advise I can give. Good luck!

I have bulging discs in my neck. Never even heard of that procedure. I have a tens unit, and its very helpful. You can see a chiropractor for the treatment, or get one at a medical supply store. I was also getting trigger point injections and lidocaine in my neck. That helped too. Wish I had more info for you.
