suboxone side effects

Last thursday i started subutex at the doctors office (2 days of induction) on saturday I started taking suboxone 16 mg. a day. I have been so tired and waking up wih headaches a little hot/sweaty too. Is this normal? I called the Dr. yesterday and he wants to see me today at 3, I look very tired, everyone makes a comment that I look tired. If I am moving around I am okay but the minute I stop I want to fall asleep. I think the doc is going to lower my dose. Yesterday they wanted me to lower it to 8 mg. from the 16. I took 4 mg. this morning and and now I am craving. I am worried about lowering my dose because I crave today and if I don't lower how long will this tiredness last? anyonw who is familiar with suboxone I would like to know what your experience was in the beginning.  Thanks.

The cravings should go away.. I remember some mild cravings during the first few weeks.  One was a bit more than mild and I actually called 1800 Suboxone and made up this whole stupid story about needing legit pain meds and asking how long I would have to be off subs to take them (like they are idiots.. im sure they've heard a million excuses) but I gave up when I was told it would take 5 days.. So I stayed strong and when I adjusted to being on suboxone I did not have any cravings at all.  I mean NONE.  Nor did I have any desire to drink at all.  Im not a big drinker to begin with but do enjoy a drink every now and then. But suboxone actually repelled it.  So you should just give it time.  Lots of pros and cons about suboxone.  Do your research.  Im not an advocate of suboxone use in most cases... But I wish you much luck in doing whatever you have to do to stay clean.

Thanks guys, I just want to make sure that the tired part will go away soon. Some of the other people in my program are not tired like me. their cravings are just gone and they have trouble sleeping. I guess we are all different.l just don't want the cravings. for it to come back.  My husband is waiting for a back surgery so all the pain meds I like to abuse are here in my home. He keeps them in a lock box and I have asked him to make sure the keys are hidden. Before he had them lockedup but I knew where the keys were so I helped myself when I wanted. Talk about sick, I stole the meds from the man i love to get high. He found out and was pretty upset about it. He really didn't know how bad I actually was until last week, I had to come clean with him and the doctor. I am also an alcoholic tool. That was my drug of choice then I switched to the pills, they were easier to hid from my hubby and kids. I have been trying to stary clean and sober for almost 2 years now. That is why i am now trying the suboxone, nothing else was working. I am a little worried though because there are such mixed reviews about it.

Headaches are very common when on suboxone.  I am not sure of what the right dose for you is - definitely follow your doctor's orders, but I can tell you that a little goes a long way with sub.  I can also say that you will eventually adjust to the suboxone but it might take a week or two. I was really sick the first two weeks on.  Tired, headaches, dizzy, nauseau... It all improved after the first two weeks.

The headaches eased up but never really went away all together during my whole time on it -- same with the tiredness.  Good luck to you!

Hi there sorry you are having trouble with the dose that is what it sounds to me like it is the dose that is not right for you (that is my opinion) I was on suboxone and now on subutex but to be honest with you I have never been on that high of dose the most I took of suboxone was 12 mg, and I used to take 30 to 35 pills of lortab 7.5. The 12mg was fine for me but my problem was that I was always trying to lower my dose to fast cause of my and also the DR. I had was not really someone that speciallize in substance abuse so he didn't really know how to deal with it so I had a relapse for lowering to fast then went back on sub in January again on 12mg and then 8 then 4 then 3 and after 6 months of been on it I felt like I was heading the other way again so found another DR. that specializes in SA and he put me on subutex 8mg and this time I am following his direction I don't care if it takes me a long long time.
Good luck sorry to be so long in my comment lol
