I'm new to the forum so I wanted to introduce myself... I did h for a long time but I been off it since may 07.  Ive been on suboxone for awhile and I'm trying to get off of that now too.  My bf has been in jail since 2/06 and he's getting out this spring I really want to be off the sub before then.  Anyway just wanted to say hello!

welcome to the board.  I took 45 mgs. of morphine daily and 6-8 percocetts daily for 4 years.  Then I lost control of my intake.  My wife and family left.  Almost lost my job.  Tried unsuccessfully many, many times to get off the good stuff.  My last ditch before rehab was suboxone.  Cost me $650.00 for 6 week suboxone therapy.  It was the best investment I ever made.  When taken as prescribed, I walked away without any withdrawal from either opiates or suboxone in a 6 week period.  I cannot say how much that was a miracle drug for me.  Like a life preserver to a drowning man.

I have used suboxone/subutex to get off of methadone...that was about a year and a half ago. My doc put me on suboxone for a month, and then switched me to subutex, because subutex is an opiate and it also has narcan in it, which of course helps remove opiates from the body. I did very good on that and was able to come off with no big problems, but then again i wasnt on it for a long time, and after i got off of it, it wasnt very long until i became addicted to fentanyl 100mcg/hr patches, oxys, and morphine IR which i have now been clean for 60 days. I wish you nothing but the best of luck! You can do it.

thanks!  im pretty proud of myself even tho i'm stuck on sub now.  better than doing dope related things, ya know?  anyway thank u very much - and congrats to you 2.  How long u been clean?

Sub was great for me in the beginning. I could never stay clean and I tried many many times.  There were alot of side effects that weren't fun but this is the longest ive ever been away from the dope before so it's been really helpful.  I've been tapering down for months and its been really difficult.  hind sight is 20/20 and i shouldnt have taken it for so long cuz now i'm back to square one with trying to get off drugs again.  And it's been a nightmare at times.

I never took methadone more than a couple times but i've heard it's a nightmare to come off of too.  Sub might work for you - but you gotta understand that it's just trading one pill for another.

Hello and welcome, the forum is great for support and information. I dont know much about suboxone, but i wanted to say well done for kicking H, i too was a H addict and i know how hard it is to come off it. Again, WELL DONE for kicking H!

Hello back and good to see ya here.  As a person who is considering sub, can you share what it did for you?  Are you getting help with going off it?
I'm titrating down on methadone for pain control and it seems like a long road..suboxone appears to be helpful but also has its problems.  
In interested in your opinion
