opiates staying in your system

I have been clean and sober for 100 days.  My drug of choice are opiates but I have not had an opiate in 100 days.  I have been doing a voluntary out patient drug program and they drug test me.  I have had all clean tests and 2 weeks ago I tested positive for opiates.  I have really, truly not taken any!!!  I have started running again...is it possible that stored up opiates in your system can be released?  Is there any way anyone knows of for why this could happen???  I am really upset...I have not taken anything and don't understand...

Hello Again
This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Elaine was eating poppy seed muffins and she tested positive. Just ask to redo it,if you know thats all that matters. I understand your frustrations we addicts have issue's with the little things. In my opinion  Its a so what !

Jerseygirl,

How is your relationship with the out-patient counselor's. Good terms, not so good? Are they happy with you and your progress? And why are they testing you if your in a voluntary program? They don't normally do testing unless someone has been mandated or required to enroll...Was there anything that took place that might have led them to believe some re-use might be taking place?..Demand a lab test if your sure that this is wrong. Even though their records are "suppose" to be off limits to prying eye's, if you don't get this corrected, this will always be in there and might impact you at some future date.

Around the time of the test, did you eat any bread or other food products that has poppy seeds in it?. They have been known to create false positives. I would do as Ga Guy says and get a lab test if you feel this is wrong. There are certain byproducts that a lab test measures that a urine test can't which are designed to look for trace marker's that can rule in or out a false positive.

HI first off congrads on 100 days clean your doing great...as for those test there always not the most reliable I use to have to test once a month wile on methadone and twice in 6 1/2yrs my test came back dirty once for cocaine and once for heroin ...I never used anything wile on methadone...the real bit## was I had to pay 20bucks for the retest to get it cleared up and even though it came back ok they still charged me the 20  bucks so have them retest it im sure it will all work out in the end good luck and God bless

There's really only two choices. Either you used and the test is correct...or you didn't and it was a false positive. I had one happen to me once...I demanded they send the urine out and not rely on a dip test.

I really doubt that after a one hundred days anything would be left .Have you been taking any meds? It most likely just a false positive I would ask to take another .

I have heard that they reside in your bones and that is why you body aches when you wd but I can't confirm that either way...maybe someone will come along and shed more light on the subject..but that's strange to say the least
