oxycontin

I have been using narcotic painkillers off and on since about 12th grade. (I am now 22). I was clean from Feb 2005- August 2006. In the past 6 months  I have been taking about 5-6 10mg percocets everyday. Within the past month I have been either doing that or snorting ATLEAST 1   80mg oxycontin a day. My friends finally found out about my "double life" and this gave me a strong incentive to quit. I havent touched any opiates in about 48 hours...just some xanax to take the edge off and a little weed. The thing that I noticed to be the worst part of withdrawal...well for me anyway is the LEG CRAMPS!!!...THeir terrible!!!...I cant sleep with them...I cant focus at work..plus I have the diarreaha on top of that.....Does anyone know any solutions to the leg cramps??? (besides OC's of of course!)

P.S. If you can tolerate them...a little weed and a small dose of xanax, valium, ativan etc...does really help with the mental anxiety of the WD process....

Any advice would really be helpful...please e-mail me or post if you could give some advice.

The bannans are a good idea -mostly for the potassium. The Thomas Recipe has zinc supplement in it to address the RLS - use the warm bath/shower. Dont forget that you need a good multivitamin and even other supplements. You have spent a long time running your body on empty. Be good to it for a while and give it what it needs to treat you right.

Also , Epsom salts 1-2 cups in the hot bath. It pushes magnesium into the muscles. Drink lots of water and some Gatorade to.

No Weed.
Bananas and lots of water are excellent for leg cramps. Also, I know it's hard, but try just walking. Walks helped me with the chills and sweating. When I would have a hot flash I would just get up and walk down the street and back.
Hope this helps.

It is... but if you follow the recipe as instructed you should only use it on the first 3 days then taper down drastically to avoid addiction.

I agree with IBKleen... this is a recovery forum. By no means should anyone recommend anyone else to try another drug to w/d from another drug... crazy. The hot baths work, rest yet keeping active works... if that makes any sense. Rest your body but not so much your mind. Keep your mind busy. It really helped me to ride with my husband when he ran his errands for his business. Body wise I was doing nothing, but, mentally we talked, laughed and I even cried if I felt like it. But, at least I was doing something to stay busy. If this is not an option in anyway for you to be around someone else then log in and chat chat chat.

Heat helps!!! IF you have access to a spa, or just a bathtub.  That is the only thing that helped me out.  The heat will relax your whole body.  Its hard going through the withdrawals I know....Made me never want to go through it again.

First off, please do not suggest that people smoke weed to help with the withdrawal..not cool at all. Also suggesting benzos..not good. People here are trying to get off drugs, not find new ones.

Take hot baths for the cramps and use a heating pad on your calves. There is not much else to do then to go through the process. It will be over soon.
